BEHIND THE !MEEBS: Yuga Labs Gave Voyagers A Step By Step Guide To Making The Meebits Collection Metaverse Ready!

As Yuga Labs' Voxel community gets ready to vibe on the Otherside during the Meebits trip to Meetroplis later this Spring, the company released a step-by-step guide to making !Meebin a reality!

On Friday, Yuga Labs released its third-ever behind-the-scenes Otherside article dubbed 'Meebits in the Metaverse,' humorously detailing the ten steps the company took to prepare the 20,000 Meebits for the metaverse and their efforts to make their work invisible.

In the article, Yuga Labs explained that they rebuilt the collection, including all of the Meebits' one-off traits, added thumbs to the meebs, and addressed the 844 tattoo traits in the collection.

“Step 8: Yay! Behold your work,” Yuga wrote. “It’s virtually indistinguishable from the OG collection. Step 9: Realize this means your work is invisible. Nobody will fully appreciate what you’ve accomplished. Step 10: Stay !meebin.”

Alongside this step-by-step guide to remaking the Meebs, Yuga Labs shared a video of a naked Meebit dancing with a bunch of Bored Apes, highlighting the differences in movement between a Meebit and an Ape on the Otherside.

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Yuga Labs explained that every NFT collection will move a bit differently on the Otherside.

“Avatars aren’t just defined by their traits, they’re also defined by how they move,” Yuga Labs’ Otherside team explained in their March 29th X article . “No two species walk exactly the same, so we wanted to bring that principle to collections in Otherside.”

At this time, we do not know when Yuga Labs will be inviting the Meebs to Otherside this Spring, but we do know that the 'Meebits Come Home' experience will be a 'pretty big event' that will be comparable to Voyager's first and second trips to Otherside, and that it will include some 'experimentation with what creators can do,' according to Otherside General Manager, Eric Reid.

“We are working on Meebits 1.3 for this Spring,” Reid wrote in a blog post on February 21st. “It’s going to be an event for Meebits on Meetropolis, but it’s also going to include other special guests and some new experimentation with what creators can do on Otherside. It is our hope that this experiment starts to demonstrate the incredible power of Otherside for artists. With Proof, Moonbirds, and of course, the Punks, there are so many people with so much creativity to share. I view it as our privilege to work for them and expand their horizons on Otherside.”

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow the Meebits and will keep you posted on all things Otherside. Stay tuned for updates!
