Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a super hero inspired bored ape derivative!
As the Bored Ape Yacht Club grows in popularity, so do the number of derivate projects. And one BAYC member is creating the heroes the community needs and deserves.
Bored Ape #1215, known as Darwin, is creating a super boring team of Marvel inspired derivative apes on opensea.
“I wanted to hit collectors right in their nostalgia, Darwin said. “I created the cyclops derivative as a test. I was happy with how It turned out and I knew I had to build a collection around it.”
Darwin’s current collection is called the “Apevengers,” according to his link on Twitter. The collection features derivates of Darwin as popular Marvel heros such as Black Panther, Thor and Captain America. This current collection has an average sale price of .082 Eth and a 90 day trade volume of .41 Eth.
The “Apevengers” collection is just the latest creation in a growing list of super hero inspired apes created by Darwin. In the past, he has made “Mortal Kombape” (inspired by Mortal Combat) and “Street Fighter Apes” inspired by Street Fighter).
Darwin told the Bored Ape Gazette that the BAYC’s unique ownership structure inspired him to create derivative apes.
“After I purchased my Ape and I found out about the rights the owners had,” Darwin said. “derivatives were a no brainer.”
Going forward, Darwin hopes to eventually move from superhero apes to original derivative apes.
“BAYC is one of the best things that has ever happened to me or the NFT community,” Darwin said. “And I am certain that every ape collector would agree!”
