Christie’s “No Time Like The Present” auction ends in 8 days and the main Bored Ape Yacht Club piece in the collection will sell for at least $800,000, according to one BAYC member.
At the time of this articles publication Bored Ape #8746, the main BAYC piece in the auction, had a current bid price of 4,500,000 HKD which equate to $578,000 USD or about 180 ETH. While this number is impressive, it will likely go much higher thanks to some familiar BAYC members.
“Still 9 days to go, real bids will come towards the end, BAYC member OGDFarmer tweeted earlier this weekend. “I have 250 Eth ready for it myself, so for what it’s worth, that’s the floor for this one.”
A 250 Eth offer would be roughly $800,000 USD for Bored Ape #8746. Bored Ape #8746 is a six trait cheetah fur bored ape sporting a black suit, halo and blue beam eyes. Based on these traits, Bored Ape #8746 is the 143rd rarest ape, according to Rarity Tools.
“To be clear: I think there’s a 20% chance I get it at that price at best, OGDFarmer tweeted. “It’s the equivalent of a WEth capitulation bid This is a >400 eth ape.”
OGDFarmer is no stranger to big BAYC purchases and sales. As the Bored Ape
Gazette previously reported, he purchased a gold fur bored ape back in June for $60,000 USD and flipped it for over 2,000,000 USD earlier this month.
OGDFarmer announcing to the BAYC community of his plans to bid 250 Eth for Bored Ape #8746 is a good sign for the success of this auction. Based on the Sotheby’s auction, apes should expect a flurry of activity right before the auction ends on September 28th at 11 a.m. HKT (11:00 p.m. EST).
