ELECTION 2023: The Window For $Ape Holders To Nominate Themselves For $Ape Office Opens Tomorrow!

As spooky season comes to an end, the ApeCoin DAO’s third election season begins.

On Wednesday, November 1st, the window for ApeCoin DAO contributors to throw their hats in the ring and submit their applications to run for $Ape office officially opens!

This winter’s election season is set to be the DAO’s busiest election season yet with three Special Council seats, oneGovernance Working Group steward spot, two Marketing and Comms positions, and two Metaverse Stewards seats all up for grabs!

In order to run for any of these positions, ApeCoin DAO contributors will need to fill out a Google Doc form for the races they'd like to participate in. The DAO will share links to these forms tomorrow!

$Apes will have from November 1st to November 14th at 9 P.M. EST to submit their applications and officially be in the running for $Ape office.

From there, the DAO will verify the nominees’ applications. Then the DAO approved candidates will move onto the next phase of the election. During this second phase, the community will have the chance to meet the candidates and find out more about them and their backgrounds.

Then from December 7th- December 13th, the community will hold its first round of voting where they will select five candidates from each race to move onto the second round.

From there, the community will vote again from December 14th- December 20th. During this second round of voting, the community will select its preferred candidates for each of the open positions. The winners of this winter’s election season will then officially take office on January 1st, 2024. Check out this winter’s election calendar below:

While we do not know who will be running for $Ape office this winter yet, we do know that at least one of the ApeCoin DAO’s Special Council members will not be seek reelection.

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, ApeCoin DAO Special Council member Gerry announced that he would not run for a second term last week.

“I’m very relieved to not go through that horrendous process again,” Gerry said on ApeComms space on October 25th. “Just to clarify I’m not going anywhere I’m just not going to run for SC again. This job, I’m not going to lie, it’s a whole lot. And sometimes I feel like I’m running in place and like I’m on a leash, and I don’t do well with leashes. I have grand plans and I have a lot of ambition I have other things that I’m working on for the DAO and I look forward to sharing those.”
