GET WELL SOON: Gordon Goner Announced That He Can't Make It To ApeFest, But He's Back As An Advisor!

Yuga Labs Co-Founder Gordon Goner returned to the Bored Ape Yacht Club for the first time in months and announced that he will not be able to make it to ApeFest 2023 due to his health, but he has made his way back to the club he founded in a new advisory role

Gordon Goner gave the community another 'proof of life' post on Friday, along with an update on his health and an announcement about his new role at Yuga Labs

“Hey apes, really wish it weren’t the case but I’m not feeling well enough to make it to Hong Kong for ApeFest,” Goner wrote. “Big fucking bummer, I know. Still working hard on my health situation. Sorry to anyone hoping to catch up with me. That said, something is helping overall. When I started this journey, it hit me so hard and fast I could barely make it up a flight of stairs, and today, on a good day, I can walk several miles. On top of medication, I’ve had to focus on both treatments and lifestyle changes to figure out what helps my symptoms and what fucks me up. But I did well on my latest cardiac stress test, and while I still have some rough patches, overall I’ve been feeling much stronger and my doctors and I are feeling optimistic.”

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Goner, whose real name is Wylie Aronow, announced that he has congestive heart failure on January 28th, 2023 and that he would be taking a leave of absence from Yuga Labs to focus on his health.

While the community and Goner are disappointed that the founder will not be able to attend ApeFest, the BAYC community was anything but bored to hear that he has recently returned to Yuga Labs in an advisory role!

“Regarding my work at Yuga. When this first happened, it really shattered my world. I closed my laptop and didn’t open it back up for a while. I needed space to figure out my next steps. I checked in occasionally, but it wasn’t nearly enough. Have been involving myself more as an advisor over the past couple weeks. I hope that my presence is felt again in some small way. I desperately want to get back to my creative work at Yuga, I left so much unfinished, but I unfortunately still have a ways to go.
