Going For Gold: This BAYC Member Just Purchased A Gold Fur Ape For 600 Eth, A New Rcord High.
A gold fur bored ape sold for a record setting amount Thursday Afternoon.
Bored Ape Yacht Club member, IcanFly, purchased Bored Ape #7090 for 600 Eth or roughly $2,200,000 USD. This purchase marks the highest BAYC sale to date.
“I am buying now because I saw the MAYC drop of BAYC,” ICanFly told the Bored Ape Gazette. “MAYC resource allocation is doing a good job, fully take care of all holders. I have never seen a company that can take care of all investors. This is why I am buying more gold apes.”
Bored Ape #7090 is a five trait gold fur ape with a multicolored grin and a service ape outfit. Based on these traits, Bored Ape #7090 is the 77th rarest ape, according to Rarity Tools.
After the purchase BAYC members were quick to congratulate ICanFly on the golden purchase, and comment on the state of the NFT market.
“So you’re telling me NFTs aren’t dead after all,” BAYC member MGrizzlyBP21 tweeted.
ICanFly does not think NFTs are dead. In fact, he believes that as long as broader crypto markets continue to perform, the NFT market will follow. “As long as the crypto currency market continues to rise, the nft market will rise together,” ICanFly said. “There is no market as powerful as the BAYC community now, so I choose to buy now.”
Currently, ICanFly owns three gold apes, a pizza mouth ape, and a dagger mouth ape. He also holds several Mutant Apes and Honorary Bored Ape #22, according to Opensea.
Going forward, ICanFly told the gazette that he is very bullish on gold fur apes no matter what happens at the Sotheby’s and Christies auctions this month. “I believe that in the next 2 months, 1 gold ape will cost at least 1500 eth,” he said.
