HAPPY ANNIVERSARY: Bored Ape Yacht Club Minters Reminisce About Minting Their Forever PFPs On May 1st 2021

It was party around the Bored Ape Yacht Club today as minters and 2021 OGs filled the timeline with their primate pictures, and anecdotes as they reminisced on minting their forever Apes three years ago.

May 1st is a special day in BAYC history, not only because it marks the three-year anniversary of when all 10,000 of the Bored Ape Yacht Club's primates sold for 800 ETH or $2,358,200 USD in the middle of the night, but also because it was the day that many soon-to-be lifelong BAYC members, such as Chris Jourdan, BoredSpaceApe, 6209.Eth, and others, picked up their forever Apes.

“Like many others still here, I too minted my bored ape three years ago on the infamous sell out night,” BoredSpaceApe tweeted. “The Space Ape was my first roll in the yacht club at #1356. I started hearing a voice in my head telling me to get to 30 apes, so that's what I did. The rest is history.”

Like BoredSpaceApe, Chris Jourdan, who would go on to co-host Coffee With Captain every morning with fellow BAYC Member Steve, picked up his spacesuit primate on May 1st as well.

“Grateful for three amazing years, and hundreds of incredible friends, looking forward to 30+ more ,” he tweeted. “I attempted to tell you all that I was minting Apes and becoming an insta perma-bull, but no one saw Imagine switching to an Ape pfp and getting 1 like on the post . . Core memories from 3 years ago, including an early snapshot of the bathroom wall.”

For many original minters and early BAYC buyers, purchasing an Ape would change their lives.

“3 years ago, I was up late listening to a Clubhouse room and I heard about these Bored Apes with IP rights,” 6209.Eth tweeted. “I minted #1105, joined the discord, and went to sleep. By the time I woke up, all 10k minted out and my life was forever changed. I love you, Apes.”

A lot has happened around the swamp since these Apes minted their forever PFPs, and it's clear that the future will be anything but boring. Cheers to three years!
