MEET THE CANDIDATE: Evil Is Running For Governance Working Group Steward

ApeCoin DAO Contributor Evil is running for Governance Working Group Steward with the goal of creating a micro-grants program at the ApeCoin DAO and giving a voice to those in the $Ape community who are not in the Bored Ape Yacht Club and live outside the USA and Canada!

The winter election season of 2023 is underway at the ApeCoin DAO, with seven $Apes officially running to be the DAO’s next Governance Working Group Steward. Among the candidates vying for this position is Evil.

“Since last year my involvement in the DAO has expanded alongside my experience, skills and knowledge of what is going behind the scene as well as in the front lines,” Evil wrote on his candidate page. “I’ve been a long time core contributor of the DAO as well as an active community member, welcoming people and guiding them about all things $ape. Since last year, I’ve looked forward to this opportunity and learned from other core contributors. I know what the community wants, the challenges new people exploring the DAO faces and where we can improve.”

To find out more about Evil’s candidacy, his experience at the DAO, and what he’d like to accomplish if elected, the Bored Ape Gazette reached out to him for an interview. Check it out below:

1. In a sentence or two why are you running for this position?

“To show people that its not just about BAYC/MAYC holders but for everyone who hold $ape, everything is focused on bored apes and USA, Canada.”

2. How would you describe the role of a Governance Working Group Steward? What does this role entail?

“Polishing the Apecoin DAO structure that was created by Yuga Labs, previous initiative was set up to fail; i.e Ape Assembly where we didn’t even got a chance to work and got the blame for it. Creating more transparency and holding accountability for the lack of initiative the DAO is taking right now.”

 3. Why are you the right person for the job?  How has your past experiences prepared you for this?

“My experience with my own crypto start-up followed by consulting other start up about blockchain, art and NFTs. I know the challenges that come with ever changing market flow and how different the DAO mechanism works with that of traditional shareholding. My experience also include creating an entire community of artist nationwide back from 2020, when there were less than 10 NFT artist from the country to over 100+ in less than 6 months and educating them about the same. Gov steward responsibility also include managing the community as well as onboarding new possible projects into Apecoin DAO, something that I have already done:”

 4. What ideas or initiatives would you like to enact if elected?

“Primary goal would be the giving voice to the people on the other side of the world. Most of us have missed crucial discord calls and twitter spaces due to the massive gap in communication. So many of us has felt unheard, so many people with great ideas have left the DAO for the same reason and what not. A non Bored Ape holder and from Asia would hit two birds with stone since this will give a strong message to the people from outside the ecosystem that its truly for everyone who hold $ape . Second would be implementing my year old plan to d deploy funds to the community in quick and efficient way; i.e Micro Grants for projects under $10-50k so that they can run a pilot program and can come back to the DAO with a proof of work and put up an  AIP for a full scale fund.”

 5. If you could unilaterally change one thing at the DAO today what would you change or do?

“The time taken for the whole process of AIP idea to final vote. It's very discouraging for people and time consuming, thats why I want to implement the micro grants.”

 6. Where would you like to see the Governance Working Group a year from now?

“A full scale team of stewards, facilitators and counsel managing onboarding of brands to web3 via Apecoin DAO in order to help them adopt $ape”

 7. Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?

“I'm a necessary evil, I'm someone who stayed while others left, someone who has been showing up daily , someone who know what the community wants and what goes against the guidelines of the foundations.”

Micro Grants for projects under $10-50k - I think this is a level of Small Grants. Micro Grants program already exits for very small (micro) grants under ThankApe. Also I don't think the speed of the AIP process is the main issue. More needs to be done about seeing what AIPs achieve AFTER they get funding.
