MEET THE CANDIDATE: Nana Is Running For BAYC Community Council Co-Lead!

Nana has lived and breathed the Bored Ape Yacht Club ever since he was gifted his primate by his IRL friend, Baron Von Hustle. Since then, Nana has been working hard to add value around the swamp by supporting creatives and amplifying their work with his OtherSpace FM Twitter Space platform. Now, Nana is running to be the BAYC Community Council’s Co-Lead so he can platform and amplify even more primates doing ‘dope shit’ around the BAYC!

This year’s BAYC Community Council elections are underway, and Apes are taking to the polls to elect a Council Co-Lead, who will act as the committee's co-leader, a Made By Apes Liaison, who will be responsible for finding ways to support and connect Made By Apes businesses, and a Clubhouse and Events Liaison, who will be responsible for setting up events between local BAYC communities and Yuga Labs!

One of the five Apes running for the Co-Lead position is Nana, who wants to ensure that every Ape feels heard and also aims to guide the club back to its degen roots!

To find out more about Nana’s candidacy, his BAYC story, and why he’s the right Ape for this job, the Bored Ape Gazette reached out to him for an interview. Check it out below:

1. What's your Bored Ape story? What should the community know about you?

“In a time where the world was on lockdown, I was hungry for connection and creativity. I come from a background of experience of brand building and multimedia met with an intersection of team and organizational development. When I noticed the Topshot and clubhouse community started to show up as apes, I knew I needed to be a part of this. I was fortunate to be gifted my ape #2338 days after my best friend Baron Von Hustle minted some. I was inspired by the fact it was a membership to a club and we owned the IP, and I ran with it from there.

Since I became a Bored Ape in May 2021, it's been my mission to add value and support what's possible in this new way of tapping in to the dynamic web3 community we're a part of.

There was a new way of how apes moved as a decentralized community and brand. There was a permissionless attitude to what is possible and I knew the community was full of powerhouse talent and experience. I wanted to establish my legacy to the club and started building with my IP immediately and involving myself in showing up for others because I knew we’re all on to something special."

2. What’s been your favorite moment of being a BAYC member?

“It’s hard for me to pinpoint a single favorite moment being a member if I’m honest. There are so many special moments that’s contributed to why I rep the club so hard. I’ll callout a special moment the day I arrived to NY and immediately went to Day 1 of ApeFest 2022. I remember being in awe when I was staring at the stage with the Brooklyn Bridge as the backdrop and I was sipping my Double Captain. Since I was traveling all day, my phone battery was completely out.

I loved running into apes I’ve never met before IRL, but have interacted with them online via the club. I’ll never forget meeting MachiaVillain (@machiavillain_1) for the first time and he handed me his mobile charger and we went separate ways. We didn’t even coordinate how he’ll get it back but we knew we’d figure it out, and sure enough naturally I ran into him again at the very end of the night.

This exemplified what the club is all about for me. Kindness, support, enhancing each other’s experience. We’ve built trust with each other’s pfp’s digitally, but saw how it translated to real life experiences. Big shout out to the OG MachiaVillain.”

3. What would you like to accomplish as the BAYC Council Co-Lead?

“For me, the Co-Lead position is about seeking to understand initiatives from the community and explore new ways to platform those that are doing dope shit and want to experience dope shit in collaboration with Yuga. It's understanding what resources are available and help align the goals of the club and break barriers to get Yuga to amplify and accelerate.

I’d like to empower our community by creating platforms to communicate and collaborate. We could benefit from richer channels for communication and facilitate shared experiences with each other by thinking about the infrastructure in which we operate. The community often times have the solutions, and we need someone like myself to bring these solutions and initiations to light.

I’d also believe the community needs better tools to create content, express their selves, and make use of their Community IP. I would advocate for solutions for us to easily create with our IP and share it in relevant ways where it becomes a powerful tool to drive awareness to whatever apes are up to.”

4. What makes you the right Ape for this role?

“I live and breathe BAYC and show up every single day. If you’re not living the true values of the culture, then the culture ceases to exist around you. This club has always been about being on the forefront, doing off-the-wall shit, and not afraid to lean into our degeneracy on a crypto centric tip. Along with that, I bring the experience in organizational development professionally and have intersected it with my journey as a creative in the entertainment industry.

I’m a builder in the community. I’ve witnessed first hand the shortcomings of support or not feeling heard. I'm always looking for opportunities to grow myself and those around me. I hope it’s already evident as I dedicate my time pushing the space forward when they listen or watch OTHERspace FM content ( learning about the latest updates, as well as platforming creators, builders and artists… or build and flex their IP with Other Page ( as we connect over shared experiences. Both of which are accredited Made By Apes brands and projects.”

5. Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?

“I’m honored to even be recognized as a finalist for the BAYC Council Co-Lead position. We’re surrounded by so many talented apes that’s capable of pushing the Yacht Club forward and into new territory. We’re ripe for a switch up. It’s time to unleash BAYC and tap into the power of what the community offers and amplify it. Choose a humble yet confident ape as a Co-Lead that will put us in a position to empower.”
