MEET THE CANDIDATE: Popil Is Running For Marketing And Communications Working Group Steward!

Throughout her Web3 journey, Popil has been elevating others, and now she wants to help elevate the DAO as its first Marketing and Communications Working Group Steward! From her time at OpenSea as a Community Manager to her current project, BoredInApe—a network of brands made by Apes that uphold the principles of 'Ape support Ape'—Popil has consistently lifted others up. Now, she believes she can do the same for the ApeCoin DAO!


The winter election season of 2023 is underway at the ApeCoin DAO, with six ApeCoin DAO contributors running to be the community’s first two Marketing and Communications working Group Stewards. Among the candidates vying for this position is Popil.




“In the past year, I’ve gained valuable insights through learning and hands-on experience, recognizing the significance of the ApeCoin ecosystem,” Popil wrote on her candidate page. “I’ve actively orchestrated numerous events both in the real world and within the metaverse, achieving success in several ThankApe competitions. My role in organizing MBA has further nurtured the growth of the ecosystem’s culture. In addition to my roles as an artist and influencer, I possess a profound understanding of marketing and strategy, drawing from my previous work experience at Opensea. This experience has honed my skills in web community development, onboarding, and whitepaper creation. and I have several years of curation experience. I am confident that these skills will contribute to an improved user experience and a more extensive promotion of ApeCoin.”

1. In a sentence or two why are you running for this position?


“I'm running for two reasons: 1) My experience as a former OpenSea Community Manager and Content Architect, where I built the entire help center, aligns perfectly with the challenges and potential of this role. It complements my artistic and Web3 background. 2) As the founder of BoredTea and working on BoredIn, MBA, and the Bored IP newsletter, I excel in branding and resource discovery. My vision is to promote and collaborate within the Apecoin ecosystem.”


2. What does Marketing and Comms mean to you?


“Regarding Marketing and Comms, I find it incredibly enjoyable. It's a multifaceted role that demands a strong network, a Web3 mindset, and expertise in brand development and PR communication. Building from scratch is where the real fun is!”


3. What ideas or initiatives would you like to implement at the DAO?


“I strongly support AIP-351 and aim to enhance the MBA ecosystem while helping ApeCoin develop a stronger brand strategy. Additionally, I'll focus on PR and communications efforts."


4.Why are you the right person for the job? How has your past experiences prepared you for this?


“My prior experience at OpenSea and running the MBA brand equips me to utilize Web3 logic effectively in enhancing ApeCoin's brand and ecosystem. I excel in data research and budget management. I believe that creating great content can help disseminate better data.”


5. What kind of budget do you plan to ask the community for and how do you plan to get it passed?


“My budget plan focuses on three key areas: Team Enhancement: Placing the right talent in the right roles for maximum impact. Proactive PR & Comms: Organizing ApeCoin directories, Twitter Spaces, tutorials, and increasing IRL activities. MBA Integration: Combining ApeCoin with the established MBA brand and expanding the ecosystem to both Web2 and Web3 users through mature market channels.”


6. What does success look like for this Working Group and where do you hope to see this group a year from now?


“ Honestly, I believe MarComm is still in the infrastructure-building phase. We have an experienced team and ample budget, but we need to refine and recommend our strategies more meticulously. I hope that a year from now, we'll witness the distinct brand culture of ApeCoin DAO.”


7. Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?


“As ApeFest's cultural wave surges worldwide, whether it's MBA, the metaverse, GameFi, or the rising stars in Asia's AIP scene, I'm here to construct a bridge to a brighter future! My Asian background equips me to better understand and meet the needs of Asian users. want to help ApeCoin's ecosystem spread its wings and soar higher. It's all about building, not just taking a stroll!”

The window to vote in the ApeCoin DAO's first round of Marketing and Communications Working Group voting is currently open and $Ape holders have until December 6th to cast their coins in support their preferred nominees.


After the first round of voting, the top five vote getting nominees will proceed to the second round of voting and officially become ApeCoin DAO Marketing and Communications Working Group candidates. The DAO will then conduct one more election from December 7th through December 13th. During this second vote, the community will officially elect first two Marketing and Communications Working Group Stewards!
