MEME ON: Horizen Labs’ VP Of Ecosystem Growth confirmed That Memecoins Will Be A Part Of The ApeChain Ecosystem

It was Memecoin Monday around the swamp yesterday after Hozien Labs Vice President Of Ecosystem Growth, Blockchainzilla Also known as Spencer, confirmed that a ‘memecoin’ summer on ApeChain would be possible and encouraged.
On Monday, the ApeCoin DAO announced that its 'Jenkins' ApeChain testnet was live and that the community could now ape onto it to see what it will be like to build on ApeChain.
Shortly after this announcement, Horizen Labs’ Spencer joined a Twitter Space with ApeCoin DAO’s Metaverse Working Group Steward, Dim.Eth, where he confirmed that memecoins will be a part of the ApeChain ecosystem.
“I think so,” Spencer said. “I don’t want to blow up his mentions but Koko has been doing a lot of work towards that. So ya, I think we will 100 percent see it. We are going to aim to have SocialFi infrastructure there, we are going to aim to have all the things that people love on Solana and Blast. Not necessarily 1 to 1 but like those types of things. So yeah, I fully expect that we have a really strong memecoin presence. Somebody recently described ApeCoin to me as one of those super memecoins and it should have its rightful place alongside the Doges and the Shibas and the Pepes of the world as a leader in that space and we do not want to lose that. We want to encourage that, and we want to bring that forward as well.”
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the ApeCoin DAO selected Horizen Labs, Offchain Labs, and the Arbitrum team to develop its ApeChain as part of Arbitrum’s Orbit chains in February 2024.
“Apechain is being built as an Arbitrum Orbit chain,” Spencer said in an ApeCoin DAO Space on April 25. “It is going to be a gaming first, but not gaming only chain. Its ultimately supposed to be a theme park for ApeCoin, where everything is denominated ApeCoin, not just the gas fees. Pairs are in ApeCoin, incentives are in ApeCoin. We are trying to get on games, applications, protocols that are all using ApeCoin in their economies.”
