ON THE BALLOT: This AIP Aims To Add An Abstain Button To Future ApeCoin DAO Votes

This Ape Improvement Proposal aims to add a third option to the ballot when DAO Contributors go to cast their coins in future votes.

AIP-200 titled “Add ‘Abstain’ option to Snapshot,” is a process proposal written by Working Group Zero Steward Amplify.

“Adding the abstain option, in addition to “In Favor” and “Against” allows voters and delegates to participate in voting without having to take a side,” Amplify wrote.

By adding this abstain button, Amplify believes that more $Ape holders will patriciate in DAO governance.

“Adding abstain to voting allows users to vote on every proposal regardless of how they feel about the proposal, Amplify wrote. “This would also allow ApeCoin DAO delegates to maintain a high voter participation rate. Many delegates and voters will simply not vote if they wish to vote against a proposal. This weakens the data for # of voters and # of votes and makes our DAO look less active than it really is.”

Amplify went on to write that AIP-200 will not cost the DAO anything and that the abstain button will be added “as soon as administratively possible” if passed.

The window to vote on AIP-200 opens tonight at 9 P.M. EST. $Ape holders will have until Wednesday February 1st to cast their coins on this proposal. You can read the full proposal here:

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow AIP-200 going forward. Stay tuned for updates!
