ON THE BALLOT:This AIP Aims To Create A Web3 Streaming Platform Where Creators& Viewers Are Rewarded

There’s an Ape Improvement Proposal on the ballot this week that aims to create a Web3 streaming platform where viewers and creators are rewarded.

AIP-222 titled “A Web3 Streaming Platform Powered By ApeCoin” is an ecosystem fund allocation proposal written by Non-Fungible Films’ founder and ApeCoin DAO contributor Cameron Moulene.

In AIP-222, Moulene explained that he and his team want to create a streaming platform like YouTube or Twitch where content creators retain their IP rights and earn more from ads. Further, Moulene’s proposed platform give viewers the option to either pay to watch content they want directly or they can watch an ad and get a piece of that advertisement revenue.

“The ApeCoin Community should implement the proposal to position $APE as the driving force behind a platform which improves the value proposition for streaming media for content creators and audiences alike by rewarding communities themselves with a share of the creator’s ad revenue and by increasing the creator revenue share to 65%,” Moulene wrote. “Allowing creators to become a platform for their network’s content, we will create a truly community-focused streaming paradigm. Our goal is to make viewership fun, interactive, community driven, and to remove as many prohibitive factors as possible for creators to create and profit from their content.”

In total, Moulene is asking the ApeCoin DAO to allocate $2,200,000 USD to the project. Check out his budget below:

With the money, Moulene hopes to roll out nine key functions in the platform’s first year:

1.Live streaming capabilities + community functions. Making it a true peer-to-peer Twitch competitor.

2.Monetization tools for creators, such as tips, pinned comments, alpha chats, sneak peaks, etc.

3.Low Latency, high quality streaming, supporting large media libraries uploaded by independent creators and broadcast channels, which can be streamed 24/7.

4.Viewership tracking for every wallet engaging with the media and advertisers placed on it.

5.Scheduling flexibility for creators to rearrange their daily slate of media.

6.Token-gated media.

7.On-Ramps and off-Ramps for $APE payments, ensuring easy on-ramps for advertisers to pay creators and communities directly.

8.An API for accurately tracking viewership hours and engagement for fair payouts from ad spend.

9.Direct payments for On Demand options.

The window to vote on AIP-222 opens tonight at 9 P.M. EST tonight and $Ape holders will have until next Wednesday, April 12th, to cast their coins.
