ON THE BALLOT: This AIP Wants The ApeCoin DAO To Make A Million Dollar Donation To The Public Good
There is an Ape Improvement proposal on the ballot this week that aims to answer a call from Vitalik Buterin for Apes to “fund public goods.”
AIP-230 titled ‘I don’t hate apes, I just want them to fund public goods,” is an ecosystem allocation fund proposal written by Bored Ape Yacht Club member and Former ApeCoin Special Council member Maaria Bajwa.
“ApeCoin would not be possible without Ethereum,” Bajwa wrote. “As a public good, Ethereum benefits from shared responsibility and collective appreciation, and the ApeCoin community should make a concerted effort to directly support this ecosystem."
In her proposal, Bajwa referenced a tweet Ethereum’s Founder Vitalk Buterin about the BAYC. In this tweet, Buterin called on the Yuga Labs ecosystem to do more for public goods.
“‘I don’t hate apes, I just want them to fund public goods,” Buterin tweeted on March 22nd, 2022.
In AIP-230, Bajwa answered Buterin’s call for action and proposed that the DAO make a $300,000 USD donation to ETH Global and use $700,000 USD to participate in 11 ETHGlobal hackathons this year.
“This AIP provides for $1,000,000 to fund crypto public goods through ETH Global and ApeCoin hackathons. The goal of this proposal is to 1) give back to the Ethereum community; 2) further development work around account abstraction; and 2) introduce developers to ApeCoin."
The window to vote on AIP-230 opens tonight at 9 P.M. EST and $Ape holders will have until Wednesday April 19th to cast their coins.
The Bored Ape Gazette is working to find out more about AIP-230 and will bring you continued coverage of this proposal all week. Stay tuned for updates!
