ON THE BALLOT: This AIP Wants To Make DAO Votes Anonymous Via 'Shielded Voting'
Updated: Jul 15, 2023
There is an Ape Improvement proposal on the ballot this week that aims to let ApeCoin DAO Contributors cast their coins anonymously.
AIP-288 titled “Adopt Shielded Snapshot Voting for Elections and AIP’s,” is a process proposal written by ApeCoin DAO Contributor Br00no.
“Engagement is diminished, and voices silenced, with potential for corruption greatly increased, when voting identities are visible during a live vote,” Br00no wrote in his proposal. “Shielded voting is a right everyone should have, and the proper way to go.”
There is no cost to adding “shielded” voting to the ApeCoin DAO’s snapshot and its as simple as updating the DAO’s voting system, according to AIP-288.
“You can enable Shielded Voting within your space if you want to enable partial privacy and reduce voter apathy,” Br00no quoted from the Snapshot voting system’s website. “Shielded Voting is a voting setting in which the voters choices are private during the voting period and get revealed when the proposal closes.”
The window to vote on AIP-288 is currently open and $Apes have until next Wednesday, July 19th, to cast their coins on this proposal.
