One Year Ago Today Was The Otherside Mint. Here's What Happened Since & This Is What "Lies Ahead"
Sunday was anything but boring on the Otherside as the NFT space celebrated the one-year anniversary of Yuga Labs' Otherdeed mint!
“Happy Birthday to Otherside,"Yuga Labs tweeted from its Othersidemeta account this afternoon. “Looking to the stars for what lies ahead.”
On April 30th, 2022, 55,000 Otherdeeds were minted by Bored Ape Yacht Club members and non-members alike for 305 $Ape each in an epic gas war. Yuga Labs also distributed 10,000 plots of land to Bored Apes, 20,000 Otherdeeds to Mutant Apes, and reserved 15,000 Otherdeeds for itself and other project developers to build out the online universe.
Since the mint, Yuga Labs, and its partner, Improbableio, have been busy building the Otherside and making the metaverse platform a reality.
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Otherdeed holders AKA Voyagers have went on two separate trips to the Otherside in the past year. During these trips, thousands of Voyagers broke on through to the Otherside and experienced the metaverse firsthand.
“There was dancing, there was singing, there were blobs,” Yuga Labs tweeted from its OthersideMeta account on April 1, 2023 following the company's second metaverse experience. “Voyagers, here’s a look back at our 2nd Trip into Otherside.”
As Yuga Labs and the broader NFT Space celebrate the 1-year anniversary of the Otherside mint, Voyagers are preparing for Yuga Labs’ first Otherside gaming experience, The Legends of The Mara.

At this time, we do not know much about the mechanics of the Legends of The Mara game, but we do know that every Voyager can claim one Vessel for each Otherdeed they hold and that Otherdeed’s environment tiers will matter in the game.
Looking ahead, 2023 is gearing up to be a big year for Yuga Labs and the Otherside. As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Yuga Labs recently brought in Activision Blizzard’s former Chief Operating Officer, Daniel Alegre, and Epic Game’s former Executive Vice President of Development, Mike Seavers, to be the company’s CEO and CTO.
