SENTIMENTAL SATURDAY: Gordon Goner Reflects On How Far The BAYC Has Come& Looks Towards The Future

It’s a sentimental Saturday around the Bored Ape Yacht Club after Yuga Labs Co-Founder Gordon Goner retweeted a photo of himself with his friend and Co-Founder Garga, and looked back on how far the club has come and his hope to be involved with its future!

 

On Saturday, BAYC member Harry Liu shared an image of Gordon and Garga playfully tickling one another during a photo shoot with the quote “Build weird shit and have fun."

 

 

Following Liu’s tweet, Goner quote-tweeted the image and reminisced about that time, and expressed a desire to be involved with the club's future if his health allows it.

 

“Miss these days,” Goner wrote. “They were the hardest I worked on anything in my life. "Turn every critic into a believer" was my mantra. Didn't focus on anything else. Miss that zen. Hoping things turn around for me this year and I get back in the game.”

 

 

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Goner stepped down from his position at Yuga Labs due to congestive heart failure on January 28th, 2023

 

 

10 months after he stepped down in November 2023, Goner returned to the swamp, went on multi-million dollar NFT shopping spree, and announced that he will be a presence in the community but his health has to come first.

 

“New Gordo made commitments to stay healthy and balanced this time,” he tweeted on November 10, 2023. “But it feels good to finally be a part of the broader NFT ecosystem. Apologies if you were hoping I’d get a certain NFT or support your project this week. I got a LOT of DMs, have my eyes on quite a few from probably a dozen more projects and artists I want to support, both super OG and brand new. Some will need to be negotiated in terms of price, some just didn’t feel like the right time for, etc, and I’m feeling pretty satisfied with my collection for now. Feels like the start of something. Thanks for all the love over the past few days. It’s strange being back without the Yuga tag. Strange but also good. I’m back. Just got a bunch of texts from internal Yuga people concerned about the phrasing "no Yuga tag." Guys I'm still an advisor, I just have heart failure can't come back to work yet. I advise. From the toilet. Yuga 4 life.”
