SPOTLIGHT: Bored Ape Yacht Club Members Snoop Dogg& Sidney Richlin Are Dropping A New BAYC Figurine

Updated: Mar 2, 2023

These two Bored Ape Yacht Club members reconnected at the swamp and are getting ready to drop a new BAYC inspired figurine like its hot!

BAYC members Sidney Richlin and Snoop Dogg are running it back with their new action figure based on Snoop Dogg’s Bored Ape, Dr. Bombay.

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Vital Toys’ Dr. Bombay figurine stands 13” tall and is “rocking a head-to-toe ensemble that includes signature combat boots, matching pink fur coat and socks, a 420 retro-vibes digital watch, finger sized skull ring, and camo cargos with helmet to complete the look,” according to the company.

While the Dr. Bombay figurine is the first collaboration for these two BAYC members in over twenty years, this is not the first time that Richlin and Snoop Dogg have aped into business together.

Over twenty years ago, Richlin was running Vital Toys, an action figure company that worked with many major IPs including Rocky Horror Picture Show and Cheech & Chong, and had the opportunity to pitch Snoop Dogg on a line of action figures based on the famous rapper.

“My whole career has been gorilla style,” Richlin told the Gazette. “I read an article in the LA Times and there was a guy’s name there. So, I called information, got the guy’s number in New York, and I said to him that I want to work on a toy with Snoop. He called me back 15 minutes later and said that Snoop said to come and meet him in Vegas. So I literally went to go meet Snoop in Vegas at the magic show; and, within minutes of connecting and talking we were partners.”

Snoop and Richlin went on to create a line of six action figures based on Snoop Dogg and one of the toys was featured in the music video for Snoop Dogg’s song, “From Tha Church To Da Palace.”

Twenty years after the success of Richlin and snoop’s first line of action figures, the pair reconnected through their mutual friend, Daddy V.

“Snoop could have done the toy with anyone, Hasbro, Mattel, any company in the world would have done the toy with him,” Richlin said. “But he felt like if he was going to do a collectible figure, he wanted to do it with me and Vital Toys.”

Richlin and Snoop Dogg are set to release their new Dr. Bombay action figure later this month, but apes can preorder their figurine for $225 USD here: https://vitaltoys.io/DrBombay/

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow Richlin and Snoop Dogg and will keep you posted on what they do next!
