The Bored Ape Yacht Club, Gordon Goner, And Apes Around The Swamp Added Banana Badges To Their X Profiles Last Night!
In case you didn’t know, ‘it was always the (banana emoji)’
Early Bored Ape Yacht Club vibes were running rampant around the swamp last night as the Bored Ape Yacht Club's main X account, Gordon Goner, and hundreds of other primates put banana emojis next to their names to signify that they are in the BAYC, following X's decision to end its hexagonal NFT ownership profile photo feature.
Earlier this week, many Web3 enthusiasts were surprised to log into X and see that their verified hexagonal profile photos were now circular after the social media platform quietly disabled its verified NFT PFP program.
While many in the Web3 space were disappointed to see X end the program, BAYC member HasThreeKids encouraged his fellow primates to return to the club's roots when Apes placed banana emojis next to their names to prove that they were truly members of the Bored Ape Yacht Club!
Following HasThreeKids post, many members around the swamp added the banna emoji to their profiles, leading the Bored Ape Ape Yacht Club's official account to follow suit.
“It was always the banana emoji,” the club tweeted.
After the club added a banana to its profile, Gordon Goner added a banana to his as well!
Take a look at some of the Apes around the swamp who are rocking the banana badge!
The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow X’s decision to remove PFP verification and will keep you posted on Apes' use of Banana Badges. Stay tuned for updates!
