These Bored Ape Yacht Club Members Are Collecting The Stories Of OG Bored Apes

These bored apes have been collecting the stories of original Bored Ape Yacht Club members for their project, Forever Apes.

BAYC members Speedracer, RTAN, 12Gauge, brazy, atareh and carly realized there was a need and desire by many in the BAYC community to hear and share the stories of long-time members. The Bored Ape Yacht Club has changed a lot since the initial launch on April 29th, 2021. Members have come and gone, mutants were introduced into the BAYC, lives have been changed and friendships that will last a lifetime have been forged.

“We thought, what if we could provide a platform for people to share these stories and experiences in new and innovative ways that is both community driven and deeply personalized,” Speedracer told the Bored Ape Gazette. “And with that, we launched Forever Apes.”

Since launching their project, Speedracer and the Forever Apes team have worked to collect the stories of some of the most well-known apes in the BAYC.

In total, Forever Apes has collected stories from 150 “OG” apes including Tropo, Herb, Bored Elon, Franklin, Captain Trippy among others.

As Speedracer collected the bored apes’ stories, he noticed that many of the original bored apes all got their start in NFTs through NBA Topshot. “For many of them, that was their first introduction to NFTs,” Speedracer said. “We think Dapper Labs deserve a huge shout out for the work they’ve done in onboarding so many people to NFTs.”

Along with many apes coming from the NBA TopShot community, Speedracer also explained that many “OG” apes say that they felt something special about the BAYC from the beginning.

“The second theme was that almost everyone sensed something felt “different” when they entered the Discord, back in late April and early May,” Speedracer explained. “The energy was infectious and contagious and if they hadn’t already minted an ape, they did so soon after. This proved to be right. “

While many apes discussed TopShot and an Energy about the BAYC, every ape in the Forever Apes book described how the club has changed their lives.

“The big theme though, that spanned almost every ape was that their lives are now forever changed because of BAYC,” Speedracer said. “They minted an ape in May and barely 7 months later, many had launched their own NFT project, brand or business. Others accrued a financial safety blanket to be able to go full time into NFTs - all this started with BAYC.”

At the time of this article’s publication, the floor price for a Bored Ape is 84 Eth or roughly $225,000 USD and the club now includes rappers, athletes and CEOs as members. While many things have changed since the initial mint, the memories and lives that have been impacted by the BAYC will last forever.
