Working Group Zero's Governance Structure AIP Passed Last Night. Here's What You Need To Know

The ApeCoin DAO passed Working Group Zero’s working group governance structure Ape Improvement Proposal last night and the $Ape community will be electing its first Working Group Stewards later this year.

AIP-239 titled “Working Group Guidelines & The Governance Working Group Charter,” was passed by the $Ape community with 40.83% of voters casting their coins in favor of the proposal.

"So happy right now,” AIP-239 author and Working Group Zero Steward Amplify told the Gazette. “A ton of time, love, and energy has gone into this proposal, and I couldn't be happier for what's next. I think Yuga gave us a rocket, we built the launch pad, but we still need some astronauts to pilot this thing! Special Council and Governance Steward nominations start in May, vote in June, and begin in July!"

The three major implications of AIP-239 passing are:

1. the the community will run the Ape Improvement Proposal process instead of an external DAO administrator. 2. there will be a more positions to vote on during the ApeCoin DAO’s election seasons. 3. there will be more ways to get involved at the DAO, according to Amplify.

“The goal of this AIP is to operationalize the ApeCoin DAO through autonomous Working Groups, beginning with the Governance Working Group which will allow our community to continue the DAO approved governance process which allows for the suggestion, discussion, voting and implementation of proposals,” Amplify wrote. “This will empower members of the DAO to make meaningful contributions and participate in facilitating governance operations, in order to further decentralize key functions of the DAO.”

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, AIP-239 was the culmination of four months of Working Group Zero’s efforts to decentralize the DAO and put more of the day-to-day $Ape operations into the hands of community members.

Following AIP-239’s passing, Amplify will be appointed to one of the three Working Group Steward positions and $Ape holders will be invited to nominate themselves to be run for the two open Working Group Stewards spots in early May.

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow the Working Group Steward election process and will let you know when and how you can apply. Stay tuned for updates!
