Yuga Labs Otherside General Manager, Eric Reid, Said That The 'Meebits Come Home' Activation Will Be A 'Pretty Big Event'

Yuga Labs’ upcoming Meebits Come Home Otherside activation will be a ‘pretty big event’ that will be similar to Voyagers first and second Trips to Otherisde, according to Otherside General Manager, Eric Reid.

After Bored Ape Yacht Club members returned from the swamp earlier this week, Reid and the Yuga Labs team took to Spaces and talked about Apes Come home and hinted at what’s next for the metaverse.

During the hour long space, Reid explained that the Apes Come Home events were Yuga Labs’ first Otherside platform experience and differentiated them from Otherside’s previous two trips.

“A few people have called this a third trip, but I want to distinguish It was really not meant to be a trip,” he said. “ It was not meant to be a standalone experience that was narrated through and handheld, that was one off that couldn’t be repeated unless you started it from scratch. This was actually the first event that was on the real Otherside platform. In a way where everyone’s account is persistent and where we can turn it on and do things. So, this is the beginning of us being able to hold things in a more regular way without each one being a giant event."

While not every upcoming Otherside experience will be a ‘giant event,’ Reid did say that the Meebits community’s MB 1.3 ‘Meebits Come Home’ activation will be a pretty big.

“We are going to have a pretty big event that will feel on the scale of those (First and Second Trips)  for sure with Meebits, it will be 1.3, this spring,” he said. “So that’s going to be a big thing.”

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Yuga Labs first announced that Meebits would be taking a trip to Meetropolis as the next stop on the voxel community’s MB1 roadmap last month.

“We are working on Meebits 1.3 for this Spring,” Reid wrote in a blog post on February 21st. “It’s going to be an event for Meebits on Meetropolis, but it’s also going to include other special guests and some new experimentation with what creators can do on Otherside. It is our hope that this experiment starts to demonstrate the incredible power of Otherside for artists. With Proof, Moonbirds, and of course, the Punks, there are so many people with so much creativity to share. I view it as our privilege to work for them and expand their horizons on Otherside.”

The Bored Ape Gazette is working to bring you additional coverge from Apes Come Home and will continue to follow all things Otherside. Stay tuned for updates!
