Madonna announced that she joined the Bored Ape Yacht Club on her Instagram Thursday evening.
“I have finally entered the Metaverse,” the material girl wrote along with a derivative version of her bored ape. “My very own ape! Thanks @Moonpay. We all need protection from Evil Eye.”
Madonna’s ape is Bored Ape #4988. Bored Ape #4988 is a six trait DMT primate with a sleeveless logo tee, an s&m hat and a bored cigarette mouth. Based on these traits, Bored Ape #4988 is the 3436th most rare ape, according to Rarity Tools.
As Madonna said in her Instagram post, the pop star was onboarded into the BAYC by Moonpay. Moonpay purchased Madonna’s ape 10 days ago for 180 Eth, according to Opensea data. The company then transferred the DMT ape to Madonna’s wallet two days ago.
Madonna has been interested in joining the BAYC for a while. As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Madonna replied to BAYC member Lindsey Byrnes’ tweet regarding the perfect ape for her.
“Hi @Madonna I’ve been saving this one for you #justifymylove /// @boredapeyc,” Byrnes tweeted on January 3rd.
Two weeks after Byrnes' tweet, the queen of pop replied to Brynes and asked about the next steps. “@LindseyByrnes I’m glad you saved it for me, Madonna tweeted on January 17th. “Ape well chosen. Now What?”
