Forget the swamp, two of the Bored Ape Yacht Club’s newest merch items are fit for the seas, featuring flags that spell out “BAYC.”
It was a fit check Friday on the timeline after BAYC member Dre.BTC asked the community about two members only pieces from the club’s new always on merch store, the Yacht Flag Long Sleeve and Hat.
“GM Apes, is there anyone that can tell me something about the lore behind this logo,” he wrote.
The flags are more than just aesthetic, they’re letters in the Nautical Flag Alphabet and they spell out “B A Y C.”

“Those are International Code of Signals (nautical signal) flags spelling B A Y C — a clean “Yacht Club” wink,” BAYC Member Tamu tweeted. “B = Bravo (solid red swallowtail) A = Alfa/Alpha (white + blue swallowtail) Y = Yankee (yellow/red diagonal stripes) C = Charlie (blue / white / red/ white/ blue stripes) In the signal-flag system, a string of flags can simply spell a word/message letter-by-letter (which is what’s happening here).”
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, BAYC opened its always on merch store earlier this week, featuring 15 items that are bored, understated, and perfect for any person or primate’s day to day.
Tonight every BAYC and MAYC member can pick up these nautical pieces in the club’s always on merch store here: https://store.boredapeyachtclub.com
