ALL ABORED!: It’s 'Sails Up' As OpenSea Ships OS2 And Says Its $SEA Token Is On The Horizon!

It’s ‘sails up’ around the swamp and across the broader Web3 ecosystem after NFT marketplace OpenSea signaled all abored for the launch of OpenSea 2.0 and an upcoming Token Generation Event!
On Thursday, OpenSea took to the timeline to announce its OS2 launch, complete with a “full token universe” spanning 19 chains, confirmation of its $SEA token, which will reward both past and present user activity, and a brand new Voyages rewards program designed to reward everyone who uses the platform.
“OpenSea has evolved. Beta complete,” the NFT marketplace tweeted along with a teaser trailer filled with familiar faces like Bored Ape Yacht Club member Dort. “Full token universe unlocked. New rewards program live. Welcome to the new OpenSea — the best place to discover, own, and trade anything onchain.”
Along with this tweet, BAYC member and OpenSea’s Chief Marketing Officer Adam Hollander shared a more in-depth article breaking down everything new in OpenSea 2.0.
“OS2 is now the default experience for everyone,” he wrote. “A subset of tokens were supported during beta, but now, virtually every token is available for trading across all 19 chains — with more on the way! Our new rewards program is live. While what you see today is just the beginning, it provides an important foundation for how we plan to recognize and reward engagement with OpenSea as TGE approaches. We’ve reimagined our Discord to create a community hub for all of web3. Welcome to the next evolution of OpenSea.”
Hollander added that while no date has been set for the TGE yet, OpenSea will be rewarding users retroactively for their past support, recognizing current usage, and encouraging future engagement through its Voyages rewards program, which everyone can start participating in tonight!
“As someone who’s spent the last four years trading in the trenches right next to you, I know what it’s like to want a $SEA airdrop,” Hollander wrote. “But I also know that this isn’t just another TGE — it’s the TGE. And getting it right won’t just be a W for the Foundation and OpenSea but for our entire space. What I can tell you is that the Foundation is just as excited to release $SEA as you are to receive and experience it. The team is moving with urgency to ensure that $SEA has thoughtful mechanics, reasons to hold it and long-term alignment with community expectations.”
