ApeChain turned one year old over the weekend, and Apes and $Apes can’t wait to celebrate with the token later this week in Sin City at ApeFest 2025 and ComplexCon!
Time really does fly around the swamp. During night two of ApeFest 2024 on October 19th in Lisbon, Yuga Labs Chief Product Officer Michael Figge got up on stage and announced that ApeChain was officially live!
“I know a lot of you have been wondering about the future and when they will release ApeChain,” he said to the nearly 2,000 Apes in attendance “But I have something to tell you. In the next two minutes, before I’m done talking, the ApeChain mainnet RPCs are going to come online. The block explorer by etherscan is going to come online. ApeChain dot com, you can visit on your phone, is going to come online. There you can browser all of the Apps that are going to be available on ApeChain. A Major Otherside ODK update featuring all of the stuff we showed you tonight is going to be made available to all the builders in the ODK. ApeChain’s mainnet is coming online at ApeFest tonight.”
BAYC members celebrated the chain’s launch together by playing a live round of Yuga Labs’ first dApp, Top Trader, a schizo token trading game that let everyone get a taste of 1000x leverage, long before the recent perpetuals craze on Aster and HyperLiquid!
At the same time, many Apes went outside in search of a better signal to ape into memecoins on ApeChain’s native ApeExpress, sending coins like Curtis and Gizmo to the moon!
Over the past year, ApeChain has grown a lot. $Ape holders voted to shut down the DAO and reorganize it as ApeCo, headed by former Yuga Labs lawyer Cameron Kates.
Since then, ApeCo has worked to bring the token crosschain to Solana, HyperLiquid, and Binance Smart Chain via its Project RAID initiative, which aims to hyperfinancialize $Ape and make it the culture coin that’s available anywhere and everywhere the current meta is.
On top of this, ApeCoin has sponsored two seasons of its Spotlight rewards program, where the ApeCoin intern swept NFT floors and gifted community members prizes ranging from $Ape to a Bored Ape for simply participating in the ecosystem.
And speaking of NFTs, $Ape is now home to tons of thriving NFT communities and Yuga Labs' Otherside metaverse, which continues to invite collections to bring their assets into the game, giving NFTs the playable value everyone talked about back in 2021 and 2022.
