Ape Drops Is Auctioning Two Tickets To This Years Ape Fest And The Proceeds Are Going To Red Apes
Earlier today, the Bored Ape Yacht Club shared a Tweet from Ape_Drops giving apes and non-apes a chance to bid on two tickets to this year’s ape fest!
“We are live! Go to https://apefest.apedrops.xyz to place a bid on two tickets to Ape Fest,” Ape_Drops tweeted. “Proceeds from the auction will go to @redapes. Auction's live for 24 hours so don't wait. Special thanks to @yugalabs for providing the tickets.”
Ape Fest 2022 will be taking place in New York City from June 20th-23rd. Like last year, the event is free to BAYC and MAYC holders. These tickets are just ways for Ape holders to skip the long lines, non-holders to get into the event and a chance for anyone to donate to a noble cause.
“Some clarity on Ape Drops 05. You should place a bid if: 1. You’re not a BAYC/MAYC holder that wants to go to Ape Fest,” Ape_Drops tweeted. “2. You’re a BAYC/MAYC holder that wants to skip the line. 3. You’re a good person that wants to donate to a great charity. And no, this is not a scam.”
Following their post, The Bored Ape Gazette reached out the Ape_Drops and learned that they’re not a part of the official Yuga Labs team, but that the official team donated the Ape Fest tickets to them. “we're not officially part of Yuga or BAYC, they just donated the tickets to us, they said. “We were the first people to sell NFTs for $APE directly which caught their attention.”
Prior to today’s auction, Ape_Drops has worked with several notable names in the NFT community to create the Snoop Dogg X Champ Medici mixtape, the Snoop Dogg X Wiz Khalifa mixtape, among other projects that were all exclusively sold in $Ape.
The proceeds from the Ape Fest Ticket auction will be going to the Orangutan Outreach.
“Orangutan Outreach’s mission is to protect orangutans in their native forests of Borneo and Sumatra while providing care for orphaned and displaced orangutans until they can be returned to their natural environment,” according to the charity’s website. “If they cannot be released, we will do everything in our power to ensure they have a life of dignity and the best possible long-term care. We seek to raise funds and promote public awareness of orangutan conservation issues by collaborating with partner organizations around the world.”
Helping the Orangutan Outreach is nothing new to the BAYC. As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the club donated over $5000,000 USD to the charity from its Bored Ape Kennel Club sales back in July and August.
Ape_Drops Co-Founder Serdave told the Bored Ape Gazette that he is so happy that Yuga Labs has allowed him to run this auction and raise money for such a great cause.
“we were so thankful that BAYC let us do this auction for them that we asked them if there were any charities that they're particularly passionate about and they recommended Red Apes, he said. “One major tenet of Ape Drops is collaborating with the community on these drops and we liked that Red Apes has a Bored Ape as its mascot and also makes it easy for people in the BAYC community to donate to its cause by accepting crypto donations. It just felt like this auction was the perfect amplification for their cause.”
At the time of this article’s publication, the Ape Drops auction highest bid is 150 $Ape. The Auction ends tomorrow at 3: 10 p.m. EST. Apes or non-apes who are interested in bidding can do so here: https://apefest.apedrops.xyz
