Apes, Mutants, Meebs, Kodas, and Geez won’t be the only ones on Otherside for long. Yuga Labs publicly released a piece from its Otherside Development Kit (ODK) on Tuesday, laying out how anyone can bring a character or collection into the metaverse.

Tuesday was anything but boring as artists and creators from across Web3 and beyond were invited to transform their 2D J-Pegs into 3D models and ape into the Otherside!
“Bring your characters into Otherside," Yuga Labs wrote. "Docs are live to help bring YOUR avatars in Follow the docs above, and when you’re ready with your avatar, fill out this form to send us the GLB asset for review. If all looks good, we’ll set up time for a tech test and onboarding into Otherside. If not, we’ll send feedback for what to update.”
“In the world of Otherside, Kodas and Voyagers work together so that people can bring in their own characters and build their own worlds,” Yuga Labs wrote. “In this documentation, we'll sometimes refer to Custom Characters as Third Party Avatars (not created by Yuga Labs or one of its partners). In the mainline Otherside experience, the use of custom characters must be unlocked. In the ODK experiences, all custom characters are available to experience designers. While experience designers may place some limits, the core technology is designed for maximum interoperability.”
From a quick refresher on ImprobableIO’s M Squared tech standards to explanations and guides on making a 3D model functional on Otherside, Yuga Labs’ five-part ODK document is packed with everything a designer needs to ape in and bring their character to the metaverse.
The @OthersideMeta team put a lot of work into the Otherside Avatar Documentation,” Yuga Labs’ Michael Figge tweeted. “There are tutorials and walkthroughs by our tech art team to help you get characters set up. Every community can win in Otherside. “
After the docs were released, ApeChain builders like Aaron Haber and Ernest Lee of the Divitverse, Prime8, and CryptoBullyz’s PixlPals announced that their projects would be coming to Otherside soon.
“Otherside is for everyone,” Former RTFKT Visual Design Director and current Yuga Labs Design Director Jarlan Perez tweeted. “Excited to see communities come through.”
Tonight, everyone around the swamp and beyond is invited to check out the character docs here:: https://docs.otherside.xyz
