As the clock struck 10 A.M. ET, darkness fell across Meebits’ onchain trading survival game for the first time. With it came a terror as old as trading itself for some and a euphoric pump for others. And this is just the beginning!

On Tuesday, NightShades participants experienced their first Darkness event on Robinhood Chain, sending Knights and Zombie token prices to the shadow realm while Ghosts and Watchers enjoyed a random liquidity injection courtesy of their fallen frens!

“The Night has damaged Knights and Zombies, while bringing its bounty to Watchers and Ghosts,” the Meebits tweeted. “The magnitude of the Night's damage is 7 on a 2-9 scale. The effects of the Night will be apparent on the charts soon.”
After the Darkness came and a new dawn broke onchain, Watchers and Ghosts soared to roughly $4 million market caps, while Knights and Zombies plunged about 92%, all according to plan.
“2 tokens on Robinhood Chain just did an 11x, while 2 others took a 90% dive, all fully determined by onchain randomness,” 0xSimpleFarmer tweeted. “This process can pump one token or 2 tokens from the nightshades game every 24 hour round.”
As the Gazette previously reported, NightShades is built around these daily recurring Darkness events, where onchain randomness determines whether Knights, Ghosts, Watchers, or Zombies factions are rewarded or damaged, shifting liquidity between the four tokens and dramatically reshaping their charts each day.
This means no token or faction in NightShades is ever truly dead. All it takes is a little luck for one of yesterday’s losers to receive a massive amount of liquidity, making the game a fairer version of memecoins, according to 0xSimpleFarmer.
“I think people like the idea of a fair game,” 0xSimpleFarmer said. “I think people genuinely believe when buying a lot of these memecoins that they are investing, but its kind of a game. So this is just making this game fair… It will be interesting to see how people react. don’t think a lot of people know about this yet. I hope everyone will be a resource to others and help them understand so they can play in a fair and fun way.”
But even if a player backs one of the Night’s winning tokens, the game is not over. During Dawn, players must decide when to sell as a 99% anti-snipe tax ticks down by 1% every minute, adding another layer of game theory while generating the fees needed to support the damaged tokens and reset the game for the next Night.
Tonight, all four faction tokens have settled around $300,000 market caps, and tomorrow’s Darkness is already set to bring at least $74,470, or 31.23 ETH, in buying power to one or two of their charts, setting the stage for more high highs, low lows, and spooky speculation.
