ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?: Pride, Prizes, And Horns Are On The Line As The Mintotaurs Grand Games Of The Coliseum Begin This Weekend!

Horn against horn. Strength against strength. The Grand Games of The Coliseum are kicking off this weekend, and warriors from across the swamp and ApeChain ecosystem will be sending their Mintotaurs into the arena to fight for honor, glory, and insane prizes, with their literal horns on the line!

 

Apes and $Apes, lend me your ears,and clear your schedules, because GobsOnApe and Mintotaurs founder James Hall’s highly anticipated Coliseum game is launching with a pair of tournaments this Saturday: one featuring 16 notable Bored Ape Yacht Club members, and the other showcasing 16 ApeChain projects. Simply put, are you not entertained?

 

The bracket-style tournaments begin at 12 P.M. EST this Saturday, 6/7, and will be livestreamed via BAYC member Dutchee’s @DutcheeWasHere's X account.

While we do not know everything about the games so far, we do know that competitors will send their Mintotaurs into an on chain battle that blends card game mechanics like Pokémon, real-time player decisions, and blockchain randomization to determine the outcome of each match, according to Dutchee.

 

In the arena, the stakes are more than just pride and prizes. Players are also fighting for their Mintotaurs’ literal horns.

“If you’re defeated in the Coliseum you’ll be able to see how badly you’ve been beaten and essentially your horns will be snapped off and given to the victor,” Dutchee teased on his Space on Monday. “Yhe PFP is actually updated on chain. So, on Magic Eden you’ll that this Mintotaur has had his horns snaped off. There will be some blood dripping. Also, all of these battles are recorded to the Blockchain so there’s a record of this Mintotaur beat that Mintotaur and this wallet defeated that wallet.”

 

Dutchee also hinted that the Coliseum will feature leaderboards, AI mechanics, and even gambling on matches, courtesy of Clutch Markets.

 

Looking ahead, this weekend’s battles are just the beginning. Dutchee confirmed that every Mintotaur holder will soon be able to enter the arena and challenge others.

 

“This is the big demonstration,” Dutchee said when asked about this weekend’s tournaments. “Mintotuars are going to have access to this and do their own battles. Its not only once a month. Mintotruars are going to be able to challenge people like 24 hours a day. We are cutting the ribbon.”
