B(MW)ORING: Bored Ape Yacht Club Members Can Now Reserve A Spot For The BAYC x BMW Mixed Reality Racing Experience!

Get in, Apes! The Bored Ape Yacht Club has teamed up with BMW to bring swamp vibes to a mixed reality racing track for an event that will be anything but b(MW)oring!

On Friday, tickets for the BAYC x BMW mixed reality racing experience at ApeFest 2024 went on sale for $320 USD.

 

“Reservations for the BAYC X BMW M Mixed Reality Racing experience are now open,” the club tweeted earlier today. “Don’t miss your chance to drive a BMW M on the world’s first BAYC themed track.”

 

“We are transforming the virtual world into reality—right in the car,” the club wrote.  “The BMW M Driving Experience with its Mixed Reality offering is venturing abroad for the first time and has created exclusively for the ApeFest 2024 a completely new Mixed Reality Experience. By turning your vehicle into a controller and donning the mixed reality headset, you'll be transported into an exhilarating new driving adventure. Keep your hands on the wheel while the world beyond the windshield transforms.”

 

This event isn’t just about driving a car with a VR headset; it's a glimpse into the future of what's possible with augmented reality tech, according to Yuga Labs’ VP of Brand Production, Chad Calcagno.

 "At first glance, you might think, "Isn't this just a 'VR' headset in a car?" I thought the same thing, but when you hop in a car for the first time and put on an MR headset that allows you to drive a real car on a real track while also experiencing a virtual world, it's truly a glimpse into the future…. With the success of BMW x Apefest HK, we really wanted to do something special, and even something that had never been done before. We wanted to merge the worlds of The Bored Ape Yacht Club x Otherside x MMR all into one. BMW has developed a totally new race track for their MMR experience that's custom for Apes. Debuting for the first time at Apefest Lisbon.”

 

 

In total, 100 BAYC members will be able to reserve a spot in this experience. To participate, Apes must arrive on time for their reservation, have a valid driver’s license, be fluent in English, be over the age of 18, and NOT be under the influence, according to the club.

This experience is the third activation BAYC has announced that BMW will be doing at ApeFest this year. As The Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the luxury automaker is also debuting its Bored Ape Bimmer Club jackets and unveiling its Bored Ape car, made in collaboration with BAYC member Rida.
