The Otherside will begin in the bathroom! On Thursday, Yuga Labs dumped a major Otherside update onto the Web3 world, revealing that the first always on experience in Otherside will be a game called Bathroom Blitz, launching this July, and today, we got our first look at it!

Four years ago, the first utility Yuga Labs offered Bored Ape Yacht Club members was access to its bathroom. Now in 2025, the first persistent metaverse experience that Apes, Voyagers, and more can ape into is also set in the bathroom. But this time, instead of placing pixels, players will be picking up pistols in a team deathmatch shooter that promises to be anything but boring.

“Bathroom Blitz is an 8v8 death match in the BAYC bathroom launching in July,” Yuga Labs wrote in a nine-part thread.  “Built by Command Line using the Otherside Development Kit (ODK) this is a first look at what external developers have been building. The Experience will stay live for a few weeks while we gather feedback, make improvements, and prepare for more concurrent experiences. This activation starts accumulating Voyager XP.  Retroactive XP for prior engagement will roll out ahead of launching the persistent state.”

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, in Bathroom Blitz, players will be shrunken down and will duke it out inside the BAYC clubhouse bathroom in what’s been described as a ‘little toy soldiers style game’ by Yuga Labs CEO Garga back in March 2025.

“You are the size of a toy soldier and you’re in the BAYC’s bathroom,” he said at the time. "There is shit everywhere and you got a sniper rifle. You can pick up an AK-47, you can grapple up on the walls. It’s a small team Shooter. Its fun and kind of an homage to the days of counterstrike, kitchen rats game, and other toy solider mods that have come out for different shooters over the years. Whenever we test it internally or with your team its always a  ton of fun.”

Bathroom Blitz isn’t just a nod to gaming,  it’s also be filled to the brim with BAYC references, from Dookey Dash Unclogged to ApeFest 2022 and more.

After today’s announcement, Garga took to the timeline to share his hopes that seeing Bathroom Blitz, which was built entirely with Yuga Labs’ Otherside Development Kit,  will inspire everyone from community members to AAA game studios to build on Otherside.

“We're building a virtual world where we're taking an extremely hardcore approach to enabling creators,” he explained. “The same tools that we're using to build our first-party experiences are going into your hands. So everyone from amateurs to AAA game devs can build their own experience on Otherside. And when some new play pattern takes off, the creator will have everything they need to stay on platform and get rich from their efforts… “Bathroom Blitz is just one version of what this could look like, where one small dev team builds a unique experience on top of Otherside's platform. But there's a lot more where this comes from. And when we get the flywheel right, the growth potential will be insane.”

While we don’t yet know the exact launch date in July, BAYC member and Command Line founder CryptoVonDoom tweeted that Apes will be able to play as their primates on day one.
