Bored Ape Yacht Club Member Franklin Won Two Ape Fest Tickets In An Auction Benefitting Red Apes

Updated: Apr 8, 2022

Ape Drops’ Ape Fest ticket charity auction ended this afternoon, and a familiar face took home the prize!

Notable Bored Ape Yacht Club member Franklin—best known for owning 43 apes—spent 669.69 $Ape or $7,306 USD on a pair of tickets for Ape Fest 2022. While the Ape Fest is free to all BAYC and MAYC holders, Franklin’s two tickets will get him and a guest fast passes to skip the lines at the event, according to Ape Drops.

While the opportunity to skip the lines at this year’s Ape Fest is great, Franklin took to Twitter to explain what made him spend 669.69 $Ape on this.

“Won two #ApeFest tickets - the first time I know of that Yuga Labs has issued/approved tickets as 1/1 NFTs to any holder events,” Franklin tweeted after the auction closed. “Just wanted to make sure I have blockchain proof of one of the most anticipated NFT irl events of the year. Open to flip.”

Following the auction, Ape Drops thanked Franklin for his generous donation to the Orangutan Outreach. “That’s a wrap! Thank you again to @yugalabs for giving us tickets for the auction and congratulations @ElectionDayMad1 for your two ape fest tickets and the generous donation to @redapes! We’ll be back next week with Ape Drops 06.”

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the proceeds from the Ape Drops charity auction will go to the Orangutan Outreach.

The Orangutan Outreach’s mission is to “protect orangutans in their native forests of Borneo and Sumatra while providing care for orphaned and displaced orangutans until they can be returned to their natural environment,” according to the charity’s website. “If they cannot be released, we will do everything in our power to ensure they have a life of dignity and the best possible long-term care.”

Helping the Orangutan Outreach is nothing new to the BAYC. As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the club donated over $5000,000 USD to the charity from its Bored Ape Kennel Club sales back in July and August.

“Huge thanks to everyone involved in this awesome auction to help protect critically endangered orangutans in the wild— Ape Drops for setting it up, Yuga Labs for donating the tix... and the legendary Franklin for going BIG," Orangutan Outreach told the Bored Ape Gazette. “Bored Ape Julius is thrilled to add so much ApeCoin to his Bored in Borneo fund!! 669.69 Ape will go a long way to helping our wild cousins in Borneo. We are so excited for Ape Fest! Can't wait to meet and hang out with more apes in NYC!”
