"BUILT BY THE COMMUNITY, FOR THE COMMUNITY": Yuga Labs Launches Otherside’s VibeMaker And Invites Everyone To Explore And Start Building!

Whether you’re a builder or just an enjoyer, everyone is invited to ape in and vibe out in the Otherside’s new VibeMaker world, giving voyagers their first look at what’s possible in a permissionless metaverse where anyone can build!

On Tuesday, Yuga Labs announced that “Vibecoding just came to Otherside” with the launch of its VibeMaker platform, packed with minigames and experiences all “built by the community, for the community.”

“For a while now, the most ambitious builders in web3 have been using MML, a markup language purpose-built for creating interactive, multiplayer experiences inside Otherside, to construct worlds from scratch,” Yuga Labs explained.”Today we're opening up a new layer of that. OS Vibe Maker is live at  otherside.xyz/osvibemaker , and it's the first real taste of what AI-powered creation looks like on the platform. Build your own experiences, drop your own assets, and make Otherside yours.”

With this launch, everyone can now explore VibeMaker just like they can the Swamp or the Nexus, whenever they want. This reporter has already taken a ride on the Ferris wheel, stopped by the movie theater, and even checked out the Colosseum, which is filled with Koda statues and great white sharks.

But unlike the current iterations of the Swamp and the Nexus, builders can actually start creating in this world tonight.

Anyone can  either code their own objects via MML here or checking out OSWiki Founder Frostyz’s Prompt to Create platform, which lets inexperienced coders, like yours truly, build out ideas for just a few bucks worth of $Ape.

From there, builders can apply to have their creations placed in VibeMaker through the Otherside Discord.

With the launch of VibeMaker today, Otherside takes a major step toward becoming a truly user built metaverse that could one day rival existing platforms and become a “Roblox killer.”

“You should be able to publish and you should be able to create,” Yuga Labs’ Micahel Figge said during the BAYC’s Meet At The Clubhouse Space on January 8th. “Success looks like you don’t need to notify any of us to publish, you should be able to do that on your own. Kind of like how anyone can mint an NFT and it shows up on OpenSea. But to do that, you need a lot of work to make sure its automatic. And I think we are about to see the first signs of that this year. Everybody is building and they don’t need us to do it.”

The Gazette is working to bring you additional coverage of the new VibeMaker world and interviews with the builders who have already started filling the metaverse with community made ideas. Stay tuned for updates!
