BURN APE-Y BURN: NFT Collector Ossen Sends Bored Ape #5085 To The Burn Wallet After Sparking A Timeline Back And Forth

While NFT projects like Normie and StonkBrokers are designed to be deflationary, Bored Apes aren’t. But that didn’t stop one collector from reducing the supply around the swamp by one.

 

Amid a barrage of Bored Ape fear, uncertainty, and doubt from everyone from longtime holders to NFT haters over the weekend, Argonaut collector Ossen tweeted, “30 ETH ready to deploy. Which BAYCs should I sweep? lol jk. I collect things with value.”

 

 

The post led many Apes to Ossen’s comment section to defend primates and talk NFTs.

“To this day people will hate on BAYC just because they can’t BAYC,” longtime BAYC Member and Mega Mutant Ape holder Lior tweeted. “Enjoy being poor, buddy.”

 

While these kinds of back and forths are nothing new around the swamp, what Ossen did next was different.

He didn’t just post,  he went full pyro and burned an Ape.

“Wait, did I trigger you? Let me prove I’m one of you by buying this beautiful thing the previous owner paid 117 ETH for. Actually, never mind. I burned it,” he tweeted along with a screenshot and Etherscan TX to prove it. “Ok bye.”

 

The Ape Ossen burned was Bored Ape #5085, a seven trait gray fur primate with wide eyes, a fez hat, and a lumberjack shirt.

Bored Ape #5085 now joins four Apes who  have all been incinerated over the past five years.

Following Ossen’s decision to cremate a primate, Apes took to the timeline to share their thoughts on the move, with several members framing the burn as bullish for the collection.

“Not triggered at all the opposite,” Coffee With Captain host and BAYC member Captain Zwingli tweeted. “Last time an Ape was sacrificed = floor ran up over $400K in the following year …not to mention the $400K in airdrops holders would receive thank you for your contribution to the NFT Gods. Argos really are bringing back ‘21 vibes.”
