DARKNESS DEBRIEF: After A Week Of NightShades, Meebits CEO Sergito Breaks Down What’s Been Going Bump On The Blockchain!

21 smart contracts, four factions, and six nights of violent liquidity swings. NightShades has given Robinhood Chain plenty of scary stories to tell in the dark, but after its first week, Meebits CEO Sergito is stepping into the light to explain what actually happened.

It was a spooky, scary Sunday on X as Sergito took to the timeline with a Darkness Debrief, where he broke down what’s been going bump on the blockchain.
“We have now completed six Nights. Watchers and Knights survived three times each, Ghosts twice, and Zombies got hit every single time. Sorry, Zombies,” Sergito wrote. “Being struck generally produced a sharp initial price drop, followed by some recovery as trading resumed. But the amount of recovery varied, and the averages hide differences between factions… All four factions finished that day’s four-hour window above their pre-Night prices.”
As the Gazette previously reported, NightShades is an onchain survival game and Clutch Markets StonkBrokers Special Project built around four factions: the Watchers, Knights, Ghosts, and Zombies. Each morning at 10 A.M. ET, verifiable randomness determines which factions are rewarded and which are damaged, shifting liquidity between the four tokens and dramatically reshaping their charts.
Once trading resumes, the factions that benefited from the Darkness can suddenly be sitting on massive paper gains. But realizing those gains becomes a game of its own, as holders face a prisoner’s dilemma while an anti-snipe tax that begins at 99% ticks down minute by minute, forcing everyone to decide when to make their move.

But those violent chart swings are only part of the story.
Throughout the week, Sergito said he and Clutch Markets have also been adding liquidity across the four faction tokens. The result, according to him, is less dramatic percentage spikes on the chart, but deeper markets that give more players a chance to actually trade those moves and realize gains when the Darkness goes their way.

Looking ahead, Sergito said that he and Clutch Markets will continue tinkering with NightShades, and he reminded players that each faction’s token is deflationary, adding yet another wrinkle to the game as time goes on.
“It is still quite early in its existence, but Nightshades has quickly become one of my favorite things I've participated in during my 5.5 years onchain,” he wrote. “While the game is verifiable random, the social layer created by the NFTs and the psychological variables created by the players' individual actions are extremely interesting. Lastly, the whole ecosystem is deflationary through use of the AnvilAMM, and the reserve of tokens (~40% of supply) that we held back and are burning incrementally over the next 100 days.”
