DIGGING FOR ALPHA: Yuga Labs Shares A New Look At An Extractor Machine That Will Be Used To Mine Resources On The Otherside!

There’s Ore in that Otherdeed!
Extractor season was teased around the swamp yesterday after Yuga Labs dropped an all new work of art featuring Blue the Koda and an extractor machine that will be used to mine for resources like Ore and more on the Otherside!
The timeline was digging for alpha on Tuesday following Yuga Labs’ surprise Otherside art post, which gave everyone a fresh look at a resource extraction system.
While we don’t know much about the device yet, Yuga Labs CEO Garga confirmed during today’s Otherside Q&A in the metaverse’s Discord that it is a resource extractor.
“More to come on that front,” Garga said. “Just a quick first look at what one of the extractors look like.”
As we wait to learn more about these extractor systems, we do know that Garga and Yuga Labs Chief Product Officer Michael Figge have been putting a lot of thought into the Otherside’s resources and its broader economy.
“Theres deep thought about the systems, the sinks, and the faucets about this world because we know its important…I want to make sure we get this right,” Figge said during the Club’s Meet at The Clubhouse Space on June 27th. “Resources are a very big system, because that’s the whole economy. So that’s something we want to be very exacting about when those details are gone over. But there’s many variables at play. There are the resources that exist and basically can catenate to Amp, Ore, Root, and Shard which have different purposes and then theirs different tiers of those resources and those resources have to get consumed in a certain way. This is really a dynamic game… and there’s certain assumptions that you have to work though in detail. We have a pretty rich point of view on this already, but we have to also be quite careful in the roll out of that…Because they really need their own focal point to make sure we are buttoned up with it."
While resources and extractors are exciting, they’re still a ways off.
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Yuga Labs plans to begin rolling out its always on Otherside experience in phases starting with Bathroom Blitz later this month, followed by several persistent activations throughout the rest of the summer. Then this winter, the company plans to open up Voyagers’ Otherdeeds. After that, Yuga Labs will start its Resource rollout in 2026, according to the company’s roadmap.
