FEAR NOT, IT'LL BE EASY: Garga Says You Will Be Able To "Build, Decorate, And Enjoy" Your Otherdeed Without Unreal Engine Experience!

Whether you’re a coding wizard, a longtime gamer, or a normie who just loves to design, you’ll be able to “build, decorate, and enjoy your Otherdeed,” according to Yuga Labs CEO Garga.

Things were anything but boring last week when Yuga Labs took to the timeline and highlighted all the tools that builders will be able to use to make their dreams a reality on Otherside later this year.

 

 

In a nine part thread, Yuga Labs’ Chief Product Officer, Michael Figge, shared a video showcasing how Unreal Engine tools are powering the metaverse and revealed how Yuga Labs is incorporating AI into that process.

 

While these AI tools are great for game developers and folks familiar with Unreal Engine, people like me, and probably many of you, were left wondering if we’d need to learn to code to build out our Otherdeeds. Thankfully, Garga cleared things up, we won’t!

“There's in-game ways of customizing your deed and building your own abode,” Garga said in the Otherside Discord. “Closer to how you would build in Animal Crossing. The AI agent stuff we demo'd on video is about how to customize environments from the ODK. In that, you're in Unreal Engine and then deploying that world to the cloud.”

Then on Friday, Garga aped into a Meet at the Clubhouse space and reiterated that anyone can build on Otherside and that no Unreal Engine experience is required!

“The AI video that Figge voiced over was showing native Unreal Engine using AI to kind of navigate the editor,” Garga said. “Unreal is a tool for game Devs. Most of the biggest games in the world are built with that. We aren’t expecting you to use that… If you own an Otherdeed, you are not going to need to build your Otherdeed from scratch. You will be getting your Otherdeed from us and you can image can of customizing and terraforming that land a bit in game, not in the unreal editor... You can imagine putting up your four walls and decorating your space in a way that anybody who knows how to run a computer game should be able to do… You’re not going to need to be an Unreal expert to build, decorate, and enjoy your Otherdeed.”
