And then there were four!

The Unboxing Web3 May Madness semifinals are here, and the action is heating up on ApeChain as the top seeded Geez On Ape take on Pixl Pals, while the tournament’s Cinderella story, Not A Punks Cult, battles Zards; all dreaming of being crowned the top collection on ApeChain!

It’s been an insane month in the ApeChain ecosystem as the top 16 collections have battled it out in Unboxing Web3’s first ever May Madness tournament to determine, once and for all, which community is the best!

“We made it to the Final Four Baaaaby,” Unboxing Web3 tweeted. “Here is the schedule for the rest of May Madness Final Four Game 1: @GeezOnApe vs @PixlPalsNFT Friday May 23rd at 3:00pm Final Four Game 2:  @notapunkscult vs @ZardsNFT Monday May 26th at 3:00pm FINALS!: ? vs ?Thursday May 29th at 3:00pm Mark your calendars!”

“May Madness has been an incredible journey with the ApeChain NFT communities stepping up to the plate,” Unboxing Web3’s Guccheetah told the Gazette. “From engaging spaces to lively timelines motivating the vote, it's been exciting to witness unfold. We've tallied over 5,000 votes across all matchups so far, with a few spectacular upsets adding to the excitement.”

Unboxing Web3’s May Madness tournament follows the same bracket-style format as the NCAA’s March Madness. But instead of buzzer-beaters and slam dunks, it’s vibes and X polls that determine which projects advance.

And just like March Madness, May Madness includes a betting and bracket component too.

Fans can now place $Ape wagers on the semifinals and finals matchups at ApesPredict.com.

And before the tournament tipped off, the community was invited to fill out their own brackets for a chance to win 1,000 $Ape and a bunch of ApeChain NFTs!

“Just like March Madness, nailing a perfect bracket is a tough feat, and May Madness proves no different as no one has a flawless bracket yet,” Guccheetah said. “However, many brackets are still very much in contention. As we approach the Final Four and Finals, it all comes down to tallying the final points for each matchup to determine the ultimate winner. With several brackets still in play, the anticipation is high.”

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow Unboxing Web3’s May Madness tournament and will let you know which two projects move on to the finals. Stay tuned for updates!
