From chatter to a CryptoPunk!
A quest nearly 900 days in the making has finally come to an end after longtime NFT collector Ruuted turned a daily Discord tradition into reality and added a CryptoPunk to his collection.
On Friday, Ruuted purchased CryptoPunk #9233 for 33.99 ETH, or approximately $54,800 USD.
While the Punk is pristine, the journey to get him was even better.
For the last 899 days, Ruuted has taken to the CryptoPunks Discord to share a daily update, counting the days until he could finally call himself a Punk holder..
“Day 763- thru 771,” he wrote four months ago. “Quest for a Punk. GMs and to all a good night.”
Over nearly three years of posts, Ruuted became a bit of a community hero, earning the title of “Friend of Punks” as collectors watched his dedication to the challenge, even as the days turned into months and the months turned into years.
“I did not think it would happen,” Ruuted told the Gazette. “I almost gave up many times but I know it’s patience that matters.”
As Ruuted kept posting, he got to know several members of the CryptoPunks community and did everything he could, both onchain and IRL, to make his dream of becoming a Punk holder a reality.
"Good things come to those that wait and there’s always a re-entry.”
And this week was just that! As crypto dumped across the board amid a fresh wave of fear, uncertainty, and doubt, Ruuted didn’t blink. He Punk’d, acquiring his CryptoPunk and officially accomplishing his goal!
“I just finally bought it,” he said. “900 days man…fuuuuk.”
