FROM EAR INFECTION TO IMMERSION: OtherGames' HoneyB Brings The BAYC's South Korea Pop Up Shop to Otherside!

An ear infection may have kept this primate from attending the Bored Ape Yacht Club’s pop up in Seoul, but it didn’t stop him from bringing that experience to the Otherside!

As Yuga Labs kicked off its second Asia tour this week, OtherGames’ own HoneyB had planned to make the trip from Manila to South Korea to hang out with the best club on the internet and pick up some merch from the club’s latest Anchor drop with local artist STONROK.

But life had different plans.

HoneyB came down with a bad ear infection and couldn’t make the trip. But although he couldn’t show up in person, that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to show out for his frens around the swamp.

HoneyB spoke with Yuga Labs’ South Korea Ambassador Kiki, and the pair started talking about ways to bring the experience online.

 

“Originally it was just going to be a bubble but I'm like, you know we can create literally anything, what if we put the pop up in the game."

 

Ear infection and all, HoneyB got right to work and began creating a replica of the BAYC’s Seoul pop up shop, complete with plenty of Otherside flair.

 

“My inspo was definitely creating something insta worthy you know,” he ssad. "I wanted players to be like ok wtf is this - from the outside it looks like a bit of a Korean palace with a mix of Otherside sky deed cherry blossoms and pond - but then you climb up and pop into the urban streetwear streets of BAYC X STONKROK. A little koda juxtaposition.”

 

Since opening the pop up in the Koda homeworld of Nexus, BAYC members, Voyagers, and more have been sharing photos of HoneyB’s build across the timeline, giving everyone the chance to check out a digital take on this IRL experience.

"It showed how powerful otherside is,” HoneyB said. “With the advancement of AI + the best creator platform (otherside) we can really bring anything to life almost instantly.  This helps us to create moments and react to daily narratives or trends and really create this live social experience.  To me- it makes otherside feel like a canvas to express anything & have fun.”

 

Tonight, anyone and everyone can ape into Nexus and check out HoneyB’s pop up for themselves. But be careful, because he added a little twist that definitely isn’t part of the IRL experience!

 

Definitely take pictures with the Other Games team (proof of play) and most definitely - DO NOT fall into the trap door in the shop.”
