FROM THE SWAMP TO THE STARS: Yuga Labs Gives Voyagers Their First Look At The Metaverse’s Main Mode Of Transportation, The Starpod, Ahead Of Otherside’s Resource Game!

On Thursday, Yuga Labs gave Voyagers their first look at the metaverse’s main mode of transportation, the Starpod, which players will get to blast off in once Otherside’s highly anticipated resource game kicks off later this year.

“Part home, part lander, part exploration vehicle. It is fast, nimble, and always with you,” Yuga Labs tweeted from its Otherside account. “The Starpod is how you launch, travel, return, and touch down across the world.”

 

 

Once the Otherside resource game begins, Voyagers will start with the same base model Starpod to travel across the metaverse. But as the game continues and the world expands, players will be able to customize their Pods and turn them into their own personal pads!

 

“Eventually, Starpods will have both cosmetic and utility layers. How your craft looks or fast and loud it moves. How it holds up when travel gets more dangerous, more valuable, and more tied to what you are carrying.”

 

Yuga Labs also introduced everyone to another Otherside vehicle dubbed the Starhauler, which players will be able to use to carry large payloads from one deed to another.

“You can stay docked and travel with your Starhauler, or undock your Starpod and do something else while it continues on,” Yuga Labs expalied. “Faster and safer when you are with it. Slower and exposed when you are not; but more on that later. Next update, we show you how you move through Otherside.”

 

As the Gazette previously reported, Yuga Labs announced that its resource game would be coming to Otherside before the end of the year and power the open metaverse’s economy while also putting the magic of exploration on full display.

 

 

“What we are doing right now is fine tuning what the loop of the game is and what this experience is” Yuga Labs’ Otherside Lead James Hall said on a Space on September 10th. “One of the biggest things in my mind when people talk about or say ‘Oh Otherisde’s a Resource Game,’ that’s just the backbone. That would be like saying our world is just fossil fuels game… this is just how we can get the world going and how we can build things that make this world possible.”
