Token 2049 felt like an 80s trading floor during a black swan event or the memecoin Trenches on a typical afternoon, with Bored Ape Yacht Club members and ApeCoin holders frantically managing their portfolios while playing with ungodly amounts of leverage, navigating the “schizo” chaos between Valhalla and liquidation as they tested Yuga Labs’ first ApeChain-native game, TopTrader!

On Wednesday, Yuga Labs’ Workshop team—a group of 13 'degen-brained' devs tasked with quickly creating innovative projects on ApeChain—went long, debuting TopTrader at the Token 2049 Conference in Singapore.

During the event, 150 degens put their investing (or gambling) skills to the test, competing against their frens with heavy leverage in hopes of getting rich and avoiding liquidation.

Many apes were liquidated fast, flooding the timeline with screenshots of the hypothetical carnage!

“Playing in a @Toptrader_xyz tournament live today with 150 other people was absolutely surreal,” ApeCoin DAO Special Council Member Waabam tweeted. “The game is amazing You can explain it to anybody in 30 seconds & they will laugh You can play it and get liquidated in 30 seconds & you will cry.”

 

“Top Trader features true account abstraction, gas sponsored transactions for a seamless user experience, insane tournament rewards & the ability to buy-in from other chains,” Waabam explained. “Its a next-gen dapp & an incredible testament to what is possible on APECHAIN.”

 

Following TopTrader's debut, Yuga Labs CEO Garga took to Twitter to talk about the game and the tools the Workshop team created, which will be available to all ApeChain builders.

“Thank you to everyone who attended today's demo in Singapore,” Yuga Labs CEO Garga tweeted after the event. “First off: Top Trader is an unhinged competition. It’s a fully onchain trading simulation game with minimum 100x leverage. It’s kind of a blast and the only way you’ll ever touch 1,000x leverage without bankrupting your family for generations. Importantly, Top Trader is also a pretty elegant demo of a suite of tools available to anyone building on ApeChain. The Workshop built TT as a fully onchain game using: 1. Ape Portal for tournament buy-ins from other chains 2. Yuga ID for seamless account abstraction 3. Gas sponsored transactions 4. Reboot to manage tournament rewards All stuff that any dev building on ApeChain can utilize.”
