GOING GORILLA: ApeCoin Changed Its Profile Photo From A BAYC Inspired Skull To A New Gorilla Logo Because ApeChain Is For All The Apes!

$Apes are stronger together. ApeChain is for all Apes, and the Web3 world is going Gorilla this evening after the ApeCoin DAO’s Twitter account changed its longtime profile picture from a Bored Ape Yacht Club-inspired skull to a new Gorilla logo.

The ApeCoin DAO’s Twitter account got a Gorilla-themed glow-up on Wednesday, updating its PFP for the first time ever—trading in the Ape Skull that evoked the Bored Ape Yacht Club for a more inclusive Gorilla that represents everyone!

 

“ApeCoin and ApeChain are for all apes,” the DAO tweeted; referencing a post from Yuga Labs CEO Garga. “Not just BAYC.”

 

 

“APECHAIN is the new place for communities,” former Special Council member and Banana Bill Advisor Captain Trippy tweeted this evening. “Seeing strong interest in my DMs of collections wanting to migrate over to APECHAIN. Hit my DMs if you have a collection and interest in moving over. I can help make it happen.”

 

Talk of an ApeChain/ApeCoin rebrand started yesterday when Yuga Labs CEO Garga tweeted, “What if ApeCoin adopted the gorilla as its new main logo across socials etc @CapetainTrippy wdyt? Worth an AIP? ApeChain is the most exciting thing in the eco. Gorilla would crush as the new face.”

 

Prior to this rebrand, the ApeCoin DAO’s logo was a blue version of the BAYC’s iconic Ape Skull logo, which was gifted to the $Ape community by Yuga Labs in March 2022.

“we’re gifting ApeCoin DAO a 1/1 NFT featuring a blue version of the BAYC logo,” the BAYC tweeted at the time. “This NFT transfers full IP rights of the derivative logo to the ApeCoin DAO, who will decide how the IP should be used.”
