HISTORICALLY HOT: The Bored Ape Yacht Club Remembers The 3rd Anniversary Of The Death Nuts Challenge

July 22nd is a day that is scorched into the history of the Bored Ape Yacht Club as the primates remember the time holders collectively punished their insides in a sacred ritual known as the Death Nuts Challenge!

“Lord of Chaos, @0xWave, has convinced a number of BAYC members to attempt the DEATH NUT CHALLENGE (v 3.0),” The BAYC Tweeted on July 13th, 2021. “A number of us will be ruining our digestive tracts together on the Discord voice chat - scheduled for Thursday, 7/22, at 9pm EST.”

For the uninitiated, The Death Nut challenge version 3.0, is a food challenge from Blazing Brands where competitors are challenged to eat insanely hot nuts. In total, there are 5 levels of hotness competitors are tasked to eat. The challenge culminates in the competitors being challenged to eat the death nut.

“The Death nut is made with a new super-hot pepper distillate that is spray-dried into a powder form delivering a whopping 16,000,000 Scoville Heat Units,” according to the product’s Amazon description.

For context, Jalapeño peppers measure 2,500–8,000 on the Scoville scale, and Ghost peppers measure 855,000 – 1,041,427, according to pepperscale.com

To pay homage to this historically hot moment, BAYC Co-Founder Garga shared a never before seen image of himself after he ate the nuts that fateful day.

“on this day two years ago” lol, Garga tweeted with a bottle of Tums and Pepto within reach.

“The day 0xWave murdered by buttole,” Garga continued.
