IT'S ALIVE: An Anonymous Collector Purchases An Undead CryptoPunk For A Bone Chilling $875,000 USDC In A Deal Brokered By CanonPunks Founder Eli Scheinman

From Rolling Stone to KOLs, we have been told time and time again that NFTs were dead.

And yet, despite all the grave dancing over the years, NFTs are alive and well this spooky season after an anonymous collector purchased an undead CryptoPunk for a bone chilling amount of money.

On Thursday, Web3 liquidity marketplace Gondi announced that CryptoPunk #3609 had been sold in a spooky, scary over the counter sale for $875,000 USDC in a deal facilitated by CanonPunks Founder Eli Scheinman.

“Legendary pixels. Serious liquidity,” Gondi tweeted, “Art is alive at the House of Grails.”

 

CryptoPunk #3609 is a three trait Zombie Punk featuring a do-rag and an earring, making it one of the rarest CryptoPunks in the entire collection, according to OpenSea data.

 

Tonight, we do not know who this mystery buyer is, but we do know that this is the second major Punk move Scheinman has brokered since launching CanonPunks, an over the counter service designed to help collectors find their forever Punk, in April 2026.

 

As the Gazette previously reported in May, CanonPunks also helped facilitate an over the counter deal involving CryptoPunk #5795, a police hat wearing Ape Punk, which was placed with an unknown buyer after a deal involving legendary CryptoPunks flipper PunksOTC.

Following today’s Zombie deal, Scheinman took to the timeline and said he was grateful to have played a role in making the spooky season sale possible.

“Grateful to help Zombie Punk 3609 join a great new collection today,” he said “via @canonpunks”
