MEET THE CANDIDATE: Hamman247 Is Running For Special Council!

ApeCoin DAO Contributor Hamman247 is a blockchain developer who has been obsessed with web3 for years. Now, he's looking to bring his building skills to the ApeCoin DAO and help lead the community on major projects such as ApeChain as one of the DAO’s Special Council Members!

The winter election season of 2023 is underway at the ApeCoin DAO, with 27 contributors officially running to replace BoredApeG, Gerry, and VeraTheApe on the DAO's Special Council in 2024.

Among the candidates vying for a position on the ApeCoin DAO's Special Council is Hamman247.

“I’ve been investing in web3 technologies since 2017,” Hamman247 wrote on his candidate page. “I was a developer for multiple DAOs on EVM compatible blockchains, such as WISE Token and BooFinance. I am familiar with Openzeppelin’s Governor smart contract standard, as well as Aragon and Compound DAO governance structures. I have also created and used Multisignature wallets for DAO governance. I believe that the ApeCoin DAO should currently focus on creating useful products and services that can eventually return a profit to the DAO treasury. ApeChain would be a high priority in my opinion for this reason, but I’m unsure if the proposal by Polygon is truly what we’re looking for. I would also suggest an entire line of Ape-themed DeFi protocols and partnerships with existing DeFi protocols to offer more uses for ApeCoin to our holders. For example, partnering with a lending platform similar to AAVE to allow users to lend and borrow ApeCoin on their protocol, or creating our own protocol for this instead.”

To find out more about Hamman’s Special Council candidacy, his plans to return a profit to the DAO, and how being a builder makes him the right $Ape for this role, the Bored Ape Gazette reached out to him for an interview. Check it out below:

1. In a sentence or two what is your candidacy all about?

“My Candidacy is about growing the DAO into a sustainable and self-sufficient entity, for the benefit and survival of the ApeCoin Community as a whole.”

2. When and why did you decide to ape into the Special Council race?

“I decided I wanted to run for ApeCoin Special Council almost 6 months ago, and have been slowly preparing myself. I've been an active member in multiple cryptocurrency communities and have wanted to make Web3 my primary focus so I can contribute to the growth of the ecosystem as a whole, so when I heard about the ApeCoin DAO it seemed like an amazing opportunity.”

3. What makes you the right $Ape for Special Council? How has your past prepared you for this role?

“I have experience in structuring and participating in several cryptocurrency communities, both as a user/investor and a developer. I have an in-depth understanding of the ways in which Decentralized structures function in both a technical capacity and from a game-theory perspective. I work well with others and can articulate myself clearly. If given the opportunity I can devote myself to the ApeCoin ecosystem and helping it grow and thrive into the future.”

4. What would you like to accomplish during your term?

“My primary goal for the DAO is to implement means of generating revenue that can be used to sustain the organization long-term, rather than relying exclusively upon liquidating large amounts of $Ape to pay for everything. I also wish to standardize the ways by which the ApeCoin Community organizes and discusses the functions of the DAO by providing public discussions that are hosted directly by the DAO rather than relying upon third-party organizations like @ApeCommsto be the primary means that people discuss this topic, and so that working members of the DAO can more easily and conveniently interact with the rest of the community.”

5. Where would you like to see the DAO a year from now?

“Of course I want to see the DAO flourish over the next year. However, I think that it should be possible to grow the community and bring more value to the ecosystem by creating new products and services such as the ApeChain. Which I hope will be fully operational a year from now.”

6. What are your thoughts and views on an ApeChain?

“I believe the ApeChain is the highest priority the DAO should have currently. It is an easy and obvious way to bring more users and more interest to our ecosystem, and a way to generate sustainable income for the DAO itself if done properly. We have a clear public commitment from Yuga to use the ApeChain once it is available, and it has been over 1.5 years since that time with no results to show for it. Once the ApeChain is created we then have the ability to create various protocols and other infrastructure to it that can also be used to give back to the DAO and holders of ApeCoin as a whole. We must be very careful about who we choose to build the ApeChain and the technology behind it so that issues like what happened during the Otherside mint can be avoided in the future. As a developer I'm very familiar with the general structure of blockchains and the EVM. I hope that I can oversee the development of the ApeChain myself to ensure that it meets the standards and requirements of the ApeCoin community.”

7. What’s your favorite book, movie, and show?

“My favorite book is the Bible due to its historical significance and the many values it instills in its teachings. My favorite Movie is 'The Fifth Element' (Don't judge me) because I love its comedic nature, lighthearted undertones, and series of coincidental yet somehow connected events representing how fate seems to often play out in real life. My favorite TV show is 'Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest', yes I'm a nerd who watches anime.”

8. Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?

"I've said so much already, but I would like to add that I hope to become more actively involved in this community even if I don't win this election. Being a Special council member, I will be only one of 5 people in that position and I will need to work together with everyone to create real change. Even if I win I can't do this alone and I would like to encourage everyone to participate whether you're running for election or not."

The window to vote in the ApeCoin DAO's first round of Special Council voting opens on December 7th, and $Ape holders will have until December 13th to cast their coins in support their preferred nominees. After the first round of voting, the top five nominees with the most votes will proceed to the second round of voting and officially become ApeCoin DAO Special Council candidates.
