MEET THE CANDIDATE: VonFrontin Is Running For ApeCoin DAO Special Council

After launching six brands, each with at least nine-figure sales numbers, ApeCoin DAO Contributor VonFrontin is running for a seat on the DAO’s Special Council because he wants to help launch ApeChain in a way that will attract builders, galvanize the community, and bring value back to $Ape.

TheApeCoin DAO' summer election season is underway, with 10 ApeCoin DAO contributors running for a spot on the 2024 Special Council. Among the candidates vying for the two open Sepcial Council seats is VonFrontin.

“The ApeCoin DAO is the single largest growth opportunity in Web3,” VonFrontin wrote on his candidate page. “If deployed as envisioned, it can and should serve as both the launchpad for the next generation of builders and the onramp for the world to engage and benefit from Web3 technology. I believe the experience I have gained and the results I have produced both in my corporate and entrepreneurial lives uniquely position me to help the DAO realize these aspirational goals, shepherding in the next generation of builders. From building brands, developing strategies and closing on countless negotiations, the skills I have built over decades, along with those of the rest of the Special Council and Working Groups, will help continue to advance the purpose and impact of The ApeCoin DAO. It is with this in mind that I believe I am the best candidate for this role and humbly ask for the votes of anyone holding any amount of ApeCoin.”

To find out more about VonFrontin and why he is the right $Ape for the job, the Bored Ape Gazette reached out to him for an interview. Check it out below:

1. In a sentence or two what is your candidacy all about?

“My candidacy focuses on 3 pillars: 1) Fund more builders 2) Galvanize the ApeCoin community and 3) Bring Value to ApeCoin.”

2. Why did you decide to run for $Ape office?

“I see Web3 as this generation's great technological advance, and an opportunity to bring further equity to allow creators and entrepreneurs to realize their dreams, just as the internet did 30 years ago. For most of my Web3 career, I have been seeking to help others do just this, either individually or through incubators I've founded in the past. I see the ApeCoin DAO as the single greatest opportunity to help others realize their dreams in this space, and I want to be part of helping the opportunity become a reality.”

3. What makes you the right $Ape for the job?

“My professional experience has focused primarily on leading teams in marketing and business development. Through that time, I have launched 6 brands, ranging in annual sales of ~$100M to just under $5B. In that same time I have led negotiations and represented my company with some of the largest companies in the world. I will take that experience to represent the ApeCoin DAO as we seek to continue to grow the DAO itself while helping launch the single largest product to come out of the DAO to date....ApeChain.”

4. What would you like to accomplish during your term?

“I'd like to accomplish two things in my term as Special Council. First, I want to ensure the brand of the DAO is strong, meaning that it is seen across Web3 (and ideally beyond) as a reliable and desirable place to seek funding and support. This means we need to reestablish trust across our own community and provide easy onramps for those seeking to enter it. Second, I want to do what I can from my seat to advocate and support the launch of ApeChain. While ApeChain shouldn't be the only area of focus of the DAO, I believe it should be the largest to ensure it can develop enough critical mass and momentum to be self-sustaining, thereby creating a continued growing number of use cases and incentives for ApeCoin.”

5. If you could pick any former Special Council member to be your advisor if you were elected to the Special Council this summer, who would you pick and why?

“Great question....and a tough one. If I had to pick one, it would have to be Capetain Trippy. From my interactions with him, I believe he has a deep love of the DAO and its vision along with the work ethic to roll up his sleeves to ensure the work that needs to be done is done.”

6. Why is becoming an SC member important for you personally?

“I'm not an artist. I'm not a dev. My skillset to build something in Web3 is limited compared those that are....but my passion for this space is far from limited. Being able to apply the skills I do have, which I believe are largely transferrable to the SC, will allow me to play a part in what we are all working toward in Web3, which is a decentralized industry where anyone with a wallet can have an opportunity to create.”

7. Where would you like to see the DAO a year from now?

“A year from now I hope the DAO is seen with more positivity than it is today, and that people trust it. I also hope that we have success stories related to ApeChain that we can all point to and say "The DAO did that", not only for others to see and maybe make their way to the DAO, but for ourselves because we would have earned every bit of that.”

8. How did you get into crypto?

“My origin story technically starts sometime in like 2012 when my friend sent me $25 in Bitcoin to set up a Coinbase account. I wish I would have done more than just set up the account and forget about it for 8 years, but I didn't return until 2020 during the bull run. It wasn't long before that same friend introduced me to TopShot and Zed Run and my love of Web3 was ignited. I guess you can say we're even though, as I did help onboard him into BAYC back in May 2021 (and he hasn't sold a single NFT or $APE since)."

9. What do you like to do outside of Web3?

“There's an "outside of Web3"? Touching grass for me is spending time with my wife and 3 sons. They keep me grounded in the "real world" and remind me ultimately who I do what I do for.”

10. Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?

“Whether you ultimately vote for me or not, I do hope you stay or get involved in the DAO. Despite it's flaws, there is so much good coming out of it, and so much more good yet to come if we can all work toward it together. That said...I do hope you'll vote for me.”
