NEXUS NEXT!: Yuga Labs CEO Garga Hints At Marketing, Partnerships, And User Awareness For Otherside Nexus Launch

Marketing, partnerships, and strong user awareness are what Yuga Labs CEO Garga is focused on around the swamp as he and the team prepare to make some Otherside “magic” once the Koda homeworld of Nexus launches later this year!

On Wednesday, Garga aped into the Otherside Discord channel to discuss the metaverse and his plans  not just going forward, but right now. Those plans start with a new zombie infection style game called Outbreak, launching in the next few weeks, followed by the grand opening of Nexus this “Fall-ish.”

“Focused on the here and now,” he said.  “Will be making a big push on the marketing side for Nexus, and have been polishing the first touch user experience for new people coming to Otherside who don't know anything about it. Strong user awareness (via marketing, exciting partnerships) + awesome first touch for newbs = magic.”

 

 

While Garga did not dive into the details about the marketing, partnerships, and first touch magic, he did hint that Nexus will have activities and things that are already built but are currently being kept under wraps.

“On having more mini activations - I know it's no fun but there's a technical reason why we can't just throw live a lot of stuff we actually already have built (or built before) right now and are saving it for Nexus debut,” he said.  “I think the version of the swamp you guys are in rn is not Unreal 5.5 for example, and all that other stuff is being or has already been ported over to 5.5.”

 

As we wait to ape into this mystical new world, we already know quite a bit about Nexus and have gotten glimpses of it over the years.

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the world was first seen in the “Before Curtis” Otherside trailer in September 2022. We also know that Nexus is built atop a Chaos Otherdeed, has bits and pieces from every Otherside environment, features portals that connect it to different realms, has Koda only sections similar to how the Bored Ape Yacht Club in the Swamp is Apes only , and will be a core part of the first-time user experience.

 

“Think of Nexus as the ancestral home of the Kodas, with an enormous Koda temple at its center,” Garga wrote in January 2025. “It’s the central hub for all Otherside, connecting realms and biomess through a vast network of portals. in its prime, Nexus was illuminated by Soma, which is the creation energy you saw Blue bottling up in the Otherside B.C. trailer but chaos, the other energy we see in the trailer and throughout Otherside, has really fucked the place up these days.... it is a Chaos environment but a major city similar to Meetropolis. it's near the site of the temple we see in the second Otherside trailer."
