ON THE BALLOT: This AIP Wants To Change The DAO's Voting Cadence From Weekly To Bi-Weekly
After voting on Ape Improvement Proposals on a weekly basis since March 2022, the ApeCoin community is heading to the polls to vote on a proposal that, if passed, will change the DAO’s voting cadence from weekly to bi-weekly and extend the voting period from one week to two!
AIP-362 titled “Establish Bi-Monthly AIP Voting Periods,” is a process proposal written by BoredClubCanada, Fudmaster, and BoredApeG.
“The current weekly voting system has significant disadvantages to both AIP authors and voters, particularly delegations,” BoredClubCanada wrote.” It is often quoted to be too short for AIP authors to adequately campaign for their AIPs, and for voters it has often been quoted to be too frequent. We propose moving to a bi-monthly (twice per month) voting period of 14 days each. Each voting period would commence for the First and Third Thursday of each month.”
By changing the voting cadence and expanding the window to vote, BoredClubCanada says that the DAO will be able to reduce overhead costs associated with the AIP process, give $Apes time to think about the proposals, and make it easier for $Apes across the globe to participate in the DAO’s governance process.
The window to vote on AIP-362 is currently open and $Apes have until Wednesday, December 27th, to cast their coins on this proposal.
